FTA: Kelly said the regional networks would be killed off because they had outgrown their usefulness as the network grew in size. He said the groups were too large and did not allow people to specify accurately enough who they wish to share information with.

Do what? Man these people are completely out of touch. The regional networks are still pretty popular and one of the main ways people start on facebook to begin with.

Mark my words, your very personal data is being mined. This stuff is real data about real people, not the anonymous and largely useless garbage collected by Google and other sites. Eventually the investors are going to demand profits, after all of the virtual goods scams fail to deliver. I wonder what will happen to all of the golden eggs Facebook as so carefully horded these last few years?

I thought the whole point of facebook was to show the world how unique and cool you were with cliched photos of yourself doing cliched cool and hipster things and by quoting other people's words?

And for stalking.

Is this where I should be smug for never hopping on the social network bandwagon?

/I don't have any friends so there was no point in joining any such site.
//Not really smug about it.
//Jealous.

In future you will be able to limit access to specified lists of friends or family. Or: "To share with more people and contribute to the general conversation going on in the world, you can select 'Everyone'."

You can do this already. You can say X list can't see my photos or X list can. I guess I don't see what's changing.

Kelly said the regional networks would be killed off because they had outgrown their usefulness as the network grew in size.

Thank god. The people you might know function was just ass stupid when the only connection it had between you and another person was "you both live in (where ever)". Really FB? City with a few million people and I might know them?

I just wish FB would stop trying to be twitter. Twitters has like what, six million registered users. FB has over a fifth of the entire internet population (over 200 million).

I had a freaky thing happen yesterday; Facebook recommended my landlord as my friend...

Maybe it's time to delete this thing.

That raises the question: Why are your friends friends with your landlord??

Nobody's ever put information about themselves on Facebook because they want it to remain anonymous or private. The whole thing is specifically designed for exhibitionism.

Fark serves a completely different purpose, and comparing the two in this context doesn't make a shred of sense.

Well, not everybody. Just the evil, evil corporations who are willing to fork over cash to find out you like Indiana Jones and Disney's Robin Hood.

But be careful! They _are_ evil. And corporations. Also, they have sharks with laser beams!
