Okay, I seriously busted out laughing. I'll bet whomever it was in Cincinnati did too, once they got over the shock.

Back when I was a kid in the 80s I once made fun of this show in front of a friend of my Dad. He quietly told me that this show was a lifeline for GIs fighting in Vietnam.

Later I found out this friend did three tours there as a Navy Seal.

Think about that every time I run across an old re-broadcast on XM radio.

I guess there is no one to blame. Still, I've got to wonder, "will things ever be the same again?"

I've got mixed feelings about this. On one side, it's kinda sad, 39 years running and it's ending.

On the other I'm saying "Thank farking god!"
I work 2 jobs. My other job is at a little pizza place and I usually open on Sunday mornings which means lots of food prep while listening to American Top 20. It drives me nuts.

Of course, this still means my manager has to choose another station which will most likely be the "We play anything." station. Ugh... it's a no win.

Casey Kasem's in his late 70s now and frequently fills up and overflows his Depends before reaching #23. Seacrest can make it all the way to #8 so there's less to clean up.

Besides his counting down the hits and being a constant voice on the radio for most of my youth, I shall always remember three great things that Casey gave us.

First, I could never hear him on the air without remembering the hysterical, gut-wrenching laughter my friends and I suffered through after we first heard the 'Casey Kasem Flips Out' outtake with the story of Snuggles back in the early 90's.

Second, I remember the first time I realized while watching Scooby Doo as a teenager and saying to myself, "Holy Crap! Casey Kasem is Shaggy!?" Then rinsing and repeating that to many of his other works as a voice actor such as Bluestreak and Cliffjumper of Transformers, Robin of The Superfriends, and just about anytime he did a guest appearance on a cartoon show.

Third, I can never forget the inspiration he gave my friend's off-the-rocker cousin who, while playing Wolfenstein would constantly speak as if he were Casey, "Dear Casey, I've left some guns and ammunition for you behind the painting, hugs of kisses, Hitler."

Forget Mike, Casey was the shiat!
