wpmulligan: Montag19: Not so bad. Redeems Sgt. Peppers.

Earth, Wind & Fire's Got to Get You Into My Life is the only cover of a Beatles song that is better than the original.

I'd put in Los Fabulosos Cadillacs' version of "Strawberry Fields Forever" (nueva ventana) in that category, too. The injection of the ska/latin percussion into it turns the original (slow, spacey and ultimately boring) into a fun little thing.

They do a mean cover of Should I Stay or Should I Go, too.

Hey, I didn't know that one, currently listening on youtube - awsum...

THIS!!!

I'll be the one to say it:

That's a good album, what are you smoking?

SPna15: theorellior: Illidan: They're trying to match Kill Em All / Ride the Lightning but they don't have the same talent for artistic composition as before (and Hetfield can't pull off the effect).

What's the missing ingredient, do you think? It might start with a "C" and end with "liff Burton".

Nope. It actually starts with a "D" and ends with "ave Mustaine".

My god, I think you both are right.

Chinese Democracy was almost a great album except it was missing a few things: Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Adler.

It was the "chemistry" between them all that made GnR's sound.

Let me copy/paste from earlier in the thread:

The Black Album is boring and uninteresting. It isn't even a bad album. It just is. It stands as a monolithic tribute to mediocrity. The sheer averagness of the album prevents it from being listenable. It is unbearable to listen to for any length of time, because i'm bored before the first song is even done. It lacks any characteristics that make a good album good or a bad album bad. If anyone else but Metallica had made this album, it would have been called what it really is: TRASH.

This is true. It isn't great, but it isn't a bad album. It's biggest problem was the hype. No album could've lived up to the hype and bad pub surrounding Chinese Democracy. Not Appetite for Destruction, not Exile on Main Street, not Are You Experienced. I still believe that once all the hype dies down, Chinese Democracy might be more widely appreciated for what it is. A good rock n roll album with hit-and-miss production.

Fano: That turrible turrible Joe Pesci album.

And Hulk Hogan and the Wrestling Boot Band.

What? Hulk Hogan and the Wrestling Boot Band rules. I especially enjoy the ballad "The World Just Lost Another Hulkmaniac" about a little Hulkmaniac who passed on to the great squared circle in the sky.
When the Hulkster comes to heaven, we'll tag up again.

LULZ! I certainly hope not! That would be akin to multiplying by a fraction/decimal. I saw Chad Kroeger at a Rite-Aid or Walgreens in Hollywood once. Why, yes. Yes, he was in the "feminine hygiene" aisle.

If there is something that sucks more than this, I don't want to hear it.

Oh, I didn't know the Saliva dude was on that song. They play that crap at my gym. I love my gym, but the music is awful. That reminds me of another song I hear there. In addition to Chris Cornell's latest single, they play a song that is apparently from that Indian movie. Something about a jive ho?

I think you're talking about "Colors of the Wind" by Vanessa Williams. Definitely gets me pumped at the gym.

NorCalLos 2009-07-02 05:23:13 PM
No, it's from that Indian movie that just won an Oscar. It sounds kind African, like they're saying "jive ho" or "dry ho."

(googles)

Slumdog Millionaire, "Jai Ho."

FeedTheCollapse: jhva3: but I don't really care too much if music sounds dated as long as it sounds good.

But when you sound like a Static-X clone, who were Ministry clones 5 years too late to the party...

admittedly, I didn't listen to the whole album. What little I did hear was, by any measure, terrible. I stand by my statement that any positive reviews the album received came across like someone who hasn't listened to any music since UYI.

That is certainly a fair characterization of some of the tracks on the album, the title track especially, pure garbage. There are some decent songs(or in some cases parts of songs) in there.

Actually, if you guys want to know what some people think is the worst music out there right now...

It's right here.

Before forewarned...it's awful.

I hesitate to post this, as it's not so much music as ear rape, but this is the worst track I've ever heard, even worse than that:

I'll take a 2nd-rate Cannibal Corpse/Deicide clone over Millionaires anyday. They (Millionaires) have made some of the most insipid "music" I've heard over the years. And I thought BrokeNCYDE was bad.

I listened to a few tracks on the youtube from this. I pretty much don't like Neil Young.

If I think that shiat is better than his 'normal' shiat, I must not think much of the guy.

But, still, that album is better than anything by the Black Eyed Peas.

And Mr. Young drove the truck in Devo's video for "worried man", which is pretty cool.

So do I, but the WORST Rush album is better than 99.9% of the tripe the music industry thrusts upon us.

The Millionaires are pretty bad, but I can beat that. These idiots actually HAVE a record deal: Hollywood Undead (new window).

They're like a slightly more retarded, emo version of Insane Clown Posse mixed with an even gayer Gym Class Heroes. You can't fathom how bad this shiat is.
