Excellent. Anyone know when it was recorded?

I love Ringo. Octopus's Garden, Boys, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, great tracks. He fits.

His voice is WAAAAY too flat to take the place of Lennon in a song.

/just the right amount of cowbell

From the wiki -

In 1990, Starr recorded a version of the song "I Call Your Name" for a television special marking the 10th anniversary of John Lennon's death and the 50th anniversary of his birth. The track, produced by Jeff Lynne, features a supergroup composed of Lynne, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh & Jim Keltner.[45]

I saw one of Ringo's many tours a few years back and, god love him, the man knows his strengths and weaknesses. He is smart enough to know he cannot carry an entire show, so he assembles a bunch of slightly out of style players, maybe a bit past their peak but excellent musicians nonetheless, and they put on a hell of a show. Plus it's freakin' Ringo, fer gawd sakes! This man was there for it all.

I'm going to hate it when he dies. McCartney, not so much.

I really love Tom Petty.

Yup, Pretty good.

But you wanna see a stage full of coolness?

Al Green and Toni Childs with Paul Schaeffer and the boys (with many others) being backed up by Tito(!) Puente, Carlos Santana, David Sanborn, Darlene Love, Phoebe Snow, Melissa Etheridge doing 'Let's Stay Together' on Letterman's 7th anniversary show.

C&P cuz I don't have mad HTML skills.

I made a lot of decisions today. Clicking on this this thread has been the best. Now I'm going out to buy some black powder so I can make homemade fireworks. That one could go either way.

i respect ringo, et. al. but if you showed that video to someone who was unfamiliar with the legacies of all involved, they would likely think it a godawful tune by a godawful band.

Came in here to say this. Seeing Tom Petty play bass is awesome.

/Is it just me, or does FARK have a lot of bassists?
