Well there goes her child support. Maybe the ex should have thought this through more carefully...

No, this is California. You don't pay child support directly to the ex, you pay it to the gov't. The gov't then writes the ex a check. If you don't or can't pay, the ex still gets a check and the keeps track of what you owe. Then the gov't will then garnish your wages, taking up to half. If that doesn't cover what you owe they keep track and you keep paying even after the kids turn 18 until you pay it off. So when this guy gets out of prison five to ten years from now a bill for all that child support will be waiting for him and the ex won't miss any checks.

That's good on one hand, but it also is probably another reason CA is hurting financially right now. Just a guess off the top of my head, this very well meaning and humanitarian program is almost certainly well in the red on their balance sheets? I wonder how much this contributes to their financial crisis in the CA government?

This is a bad idea.

The whole system just feels like it's more about penalizing the parent without custody than helping the child. Especially considering the kids already get the money from the taxpayers who AREN'T deadbeats. Trying to bleed the turnip 10 years after the fact sounds like adding insult to injury.

I'm a huge fan of tattoos (have four myself) but those were just farking ridiculous.

You can definitely tell the difference between someone who puts a lot of thought into their tattoo(s) and someone who got theirs while drunk and/or as an impulse thing just to have one.

Depends on the neighborhood, a bank in a lower income will have more cash on hand. More people without bank accounts = more people cashing checks.

This has the makings of a great Country song, the woman's name is Jolene, the guy is now in prison, I am sure he owned a pickup truck, all we need is quote by his mama, and a ride on the train and it is a perfect Country song.

Solution: Only date women with the same name. Also helps, as if you blurt out the ex's name in your sleep, or during sex, current one will think it's her you're talking about.

But, although the perp is from Oakland, those banks are in a pretty decent part of Concord. And why drive all the way to Fairfield and Benicia? There are plenty of banks in SF and Oakland to rob.

/glad Sacramento is too far for a bank robber from Oakland to drive
//we have our own anyway

FBI used to have a rule of never releasing the amount stolen in bank robberies? All the bank failures change things?
