I'd also imagine that shot didn't travel a straight horizontal mile. It likely went up in the air and back down at an angle with a little help from gravity.

Or, they are wrong about the club shooting being the source, and the bullet came from some yahoo firing up to celebrate the coming of July 4th. That sort of shiat happens around here constantly.
