Greatest American band ever, IMHO.

Without the normal sarcasm that's prevalent on Fark: Why two drummers?

SkyDog 2009-06-27 01:07:55 PM
Two drummers opened up a whole new world of possibilites...

That, and according to Jaimoe in an interview, Duane wanted 2 drummers because "James Brown had 2 drummers".

They actually have 3 now.

And the Fillmore in San Fran is run by Live Nation now, Bill Graham must be spinning in his grave.

The original Allmans were a band to be reckoned with.

Link

Duane was such a cool guy that he insisted on the roadies being paid before the band was.

I saw them perform in Central Park in the summer of 1971. They were all still alive. They were magnificent.

Dickey Betts lives very near me now but nobody ever sees him out and about anywhere.

It's real rare to see video of Duane... there isn't much out there.

/Seen them 36 times
// w/ Duane, 0 times
/// my dad kept all of his playbills from the fillmore
////will we ever have a venue where you can see the likes of the Who and Chuck Berry on the same night?

It's better to burn out than to fade away.

This song is why my daughter is named Elizabeth. Loved this version of the band.
