Yes, he is smart, and espouses some nice things, but he is batshiat insane.

You know, if KOS and Olbermann aren't fellating each other, this really throws a wrench into printboy's tinfoil stories.

we just don't want msnbc turning into the left's version of Fox.
and yeah I know most people won't acknowledge the difference.
but there is. and while hyperbole is one of the tools in the pundit's arsenal we'd like to see it more focused at things that matter. not love letters written in some testosterone induced stupor by a man in a mid life crisis.
there's a time for mocking. and a way to mock that's effective. this wasn't it.

Though, to be accurate, he's not really talking about Kos in particular, but some random blogger.

Otherwise, what that drunk Rhode Islander said.

I thought it was the lack of caffeine in my system that had me wondering what he was rambling about. Now that I know he was flogging in a testosterone induced stupor, I feel much better.

Gaddam you guys can't read.

All he said was that it's inevitable that a decent column will draw comments which end up copied into craptastic rightwing sites.

TeddyBallGame [TotalFark] 2009-06-27 09:39:40 AM
First off, I don't see the warning not to criticize KO. I actually looked more like a defense of a supportive relationship between Kos and KO.

Second, The emails thing the other night was farking hysterical. Remember this was the Neil Peart of those banging the Clinton/Lewinsky drum. I think it was the normal moment of levity on CT w/ KO. And Stanford's stance on his governorship? King David didn't quit? Fark him.

So, by Olby's "logic," lefties are free criticize him on leftie websites. But if they do, they might be part of a dastardly "plan" whereby righties accurately quote those criticisms. How dastardly.

Basically Keith is telling KOS not to feed the trolls. But comes off self-serving as hell.

My parents used to watch him every night and enjoy it. My dad voted for McCain, I am pretty sure, and is a die-hard Republican. I enjoyed it, if only to see if Ohio would show up in his countdowns. Took a break from all television for a few years, came back about a year ago and tuned in some KO for some political commentary annnnd -

I'm the most libertarian/centrist in the family and I can't stand his ass anymore.

I'll DVR it on occasion and only watch the interviews, oddball, bests and worsts. It's much more tolerable this way.

I didn't come across a single instance of "How dare you, sir!" in the tone of the most contrived outrage ever, so I'll have to call shenanigans on this one. That's not the real Keith.

SynthLord 2009-06-27 11:59:52 AM
It's curious to me how these entertainers gripe and biatch about what other entertainers are saying, and Farkers take it seriously.

Why does Olbermann give a shiat what Beck and Limbaugh have to say? It's not like he's going to ever say "well, they have a point ...". The shtick on both sides is "make the other one look stupid."

That's not good journalism, and it's not even good political commentary. It's pretentious political theater.

KEITH GETS LOW RATINGS IN BED
www.nypost.comwww.nypost.com
October 9, 2006 -- A BROWN-haired beauty who claims she had an unsatisfying one-night stand with Keith Olbermann is getting her sweet revenge - she's launched a blog to warn other women about the acerbic MSNBC commentator's boorish bedroom habits.

The bitter babe, who calls herself KarmaBites1, says she doesn't want others "to fall into the same trap . . . and I want him to feel some remorse for what he's done . . . He sets his mind on a woman, lures her in, and once he gets what he wants, he refuses to ever speak to them again. And I don't think he understands the damage he's caused."

A 30-something office worker of Caribbean descent, KarmaBites1 said she struck up an e-mail friendship with Olbermann, whom she admired, and agreed to fly to New York to meet him last May. She says he came to her hotel room and opened a bottle of Merlot which he "spilled all over." Then, when "sexual activity began [in] less than an hour," Olbermann had difficulty. "I pretended he knew what he was doing," the embittered blogger writes. "I adored the guy. I didn't want him to think he was a dud in bed," so she faked experiencing ecstasy.

Next, he piled on excuses as to why he had to leave. "He told me he's an insomniac and that it's hard for him not to sleep in his own bed. He also mentioned he hadn't had 'company' in a while. [He said] he had an early meeting with the Yankees [and] he might be allergic to the pillows in the hotel bed."

Six days later, she claims, Olbermann e-mailed her to tell her never to contact him again. "I practically begged him to explain what I did wrong. I told him I deserved some kind of explanation for such a dismissal, but I never heard from him again." She said she's since heard from six other women who say they had brief sexual relationships with Olbermann.

She named her blog forthisreliefmuchthanks.blogspot.com, after a line from "Hamlet" she says the perennial bachelor quoted.

Olbermann's spokeswoman said she'd get back to us, but didn't.

That's some good lovin' Lou.

Sorry but you must of missed where I said I was fishing for the paid trolls from MSNBC when I made the comment
"Daily Keith Olbermann Show
was created for and by MSNBCu (GE - NBC) in cooperation with Keith Olbermann to have an outlet for "contradiction and validation" (oxymoron) to hype his propaganda"

Tony I know you're reading this thread.

Mark Levin is going to expose Keith Olbermann's lies.

I will write the book. You cant stop it.

Your point is well taken, but the complaint in TFA, that his family might watching, is stupid. Even if by some slight chance they watch Olberman, surely thier TV lets them change channels.

Honestly, isnt there enough 'playing the victim' in American politics, do we need to invent new victims?

Generally speaking, if a thing makes sense, people are going to hear it, Republicans notwithstanding.

Since I'd already heard some of the e-mails, when Keith got to the part of the program when he was going to read them, I turned it off. I dunno, I guess I'm just not all that interested in salacious stuff.

I figured he was going to mock them, and I had no interest in seeing that. I usually watch BBC news when he's on, anyway, and just switch over for the Oddball things and whatnot.

You can tell by the way he is always pushed off to the far left of the screen that none of the sports commentators can stand him. I hope Olbermann's 100s of emails sent to a girl he failed to sexually satisfy are released.

It's really quite simple. Conservatism these days pretty much means worship of authority, fanatical jingoism, endless war, and religious fundamentalism. If you try and tell me it stands for smaller government, I'll laugh in your face.

Nothing of the ideas that define the current crop of Republicans/"conservatives" has ever produced anything good in world history.

And I don't actually believe conservatives when they claim that they still believe in smaller government, and that the Republicans deserted them. Throughout history, they've always favored massive military spending and they've sold themselves as "law and order" types. They pour money into any government program aimed at hurting people, but can't spare a penny for a government program aimed at education, infrastructure, or scientific research. Modern conservatives are sociopaths, plain and simple.

TellarHK 2009-06-27 01:29:27 PM
Yawn.

He's not saying "Don't criticize me!" he's just trying to encourage people to criticize him without going to the kind of extremes that make for "great" "News"Max article fodder.

Good Example: "I think your information might be wrong, Keith. Here's what I found..."

Bad Example: "Nooberman didn't even get his facts right, AGAIN."

All he's saying is leave the childish, troll arguments for the childish trolls at NewsMax. Elevate the discourse.

But this is Fark, so that ain't gonna happen.
