(Huffington Post) Dumbass Joe the Plumber says that if you say "In God We Trust" too loudly in some parts of the country, "you will be shot." For good measure, during same speech he also suggests lynching Chris Dodd   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 161

Not Joe the Non-Plumber, do you really want to compare the bodycount of people who think certain Americans don't trust God enough, versus people who think certain Americans trust God too much?

This guy's come a long way since he first came on the scene.

Unfortunately, he didn't stick to his original message about spread-the-wealth economic policies. Instead, he became a tool of the neo-conservatives and, accordingly a parody of himself.

RIP JTP

He should run for president in 2012, with Palin as his running mate. I'll bet they'd get the nomination.

Why just the other day I was hanging out with some of my pals and some Christian came by screaming IN GOD WE TRUST! Well, we don't hold too kindly to them words round here, so I grabbed my 12-gauge and sent him to his Christ.

To be fair, those parts of the country are libraries, they hate it when people talk too loud.

And God help you if you have any overdue books.

Yeah, that's what happened. He was just some guy who spontaneously 'came on the scene' with a positive family-oriented message about redistribution, before his message was tragically corrupted by big-city neoliberal economists. Sad, really.

Wait, why am I asking how it makes sense?

I would like a comparison of Sammy Joe's fantasized "militantly irreligious" sections of the nation with sections of the country that have permissive gun ownership laws.

Somehow, I don't think those two line up so much.

No, let's please keep discussing him. And laughing at him.

People need to see the ridiculousness of the self-proclaimed "Religious Right" if they're ever going to reject it entirely.

Fark is usually for the more bizarre crap. Good news, such as people making an honest attempt to steer the country away from wasteful actions that puts our future in jeopardy... there's not a whole lot there that any sane person could throw rocks at.

I could see garroting people who say anything too loudly in a movie theatre, once the 'feature presentation' begins. Nix on shooting them, however.

We're fortunate we have senators from the other fine 106 of these United States watching out for our interests, eh?

What parts of America is he talking about? I mean, he may have a point here.

Oh, come on. I'm certainly no Plumber Lover, but he was clearly speaking in metaphor. "Strung up" means punished, people say that all the time. And "will get shot" is stupid, but obviously hyperbole. Stupid hyperbole, granted.

You're not very smart, and the things you're saying make no sense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.

Seriously, though, do you know anything about Cap and Trade? Anything aside from what Fox News has been telling you? Because I'll tell you a little secret: the large business interests that fund Fox News want Cap and Trade to fail because they get hurt the worst by it. That's right! It's true! And small businesses-- or even large, clean businesses-- can make some serious dough off of this legislation. AND it helps the environment; that's just a bonus.

This is basically a classical Pigouvian tax with a twist: the tax can be mitigated by allocating the allowable amount of the externality across the entire economy and letting the free market determine who can most efficiently make use of that externality. That's right, this is a HUGE free-market supporting bill, which you would know if you weren't punishingly stupid.

Side note: the companies that are hardest-hit by this are energy companies generating power through oil, coal or natural gas. Guess what? They can't relocate to India or China unless they wanna shell out the cash for 4000+ miles of electrical cable spanning the entire ocean.

Sta-Hi 2009-06-26 08:44:27 PM
Actually I think it's far more likely that there are places where you could get shot for saying something like, "Joe the Plumber is the best thing to happen to the Republican party."

Those places would be Republican majority districts.

Fark is one of those places. You pretty much get slammed for belief in a higher power.
