"I don't know if he'll be with me, but I'm going to do my best to work on my marriage because I believe in marriage. I believe in raising good kids is the most important thing in the world," she said.

Yeah, sure you don't care about his carrer.

Jenny Sanford would not reveal whether she was headed back to the family's home in Columbia. "Right now we're taking it a day at a time. Right now we're going out on a boat."

In other news, a boat went missing off of the South Carolina coast Friday...

I'll approve when she files for divorce and walks away with 50% + child support. Until then, she's weak.

She doesn't need it. She was born to the ruling class, a granddaughter of the Skil fortune. After a walk on role on Wall Steet, she went hunting for political power.

His wife's got tons more integrity then the governor.

My hat's off to her for standing up for herself and not being one of those simpering political wives we so often see anymore.

The line is drawn on a complicated series of calculations (none of which make very much sense) based on population numbers, political leanings, color of population, income of population, etc. none of which serves any purpose beyond totally obscuring what the hell is going on in the system.

To presume you know enough about their relationship to make this decision for her is arrogant. It does seem like leaving him would be the best thing for her honor, but you don't have the slightest clue what their personal relationship is like, and, frankly, whether or not she leaves him is the business of only two people: her and her (lying, cheating, philandering) husband.

Regardless of what you or I, or anyone, thinks of him, the state of their marriage is none of our damn business.

It would just be the greatest if ol' Mark loses his shirt in the divorce, and Jenny becomes governor.

Would Jenny be a bad governor? Well, under her husband's great tutelage, South Carolina wound up with the third highest unemployment rate in the country and a crime rate in the stratosphere. shiat, give the broad a shot; she can't possibly do any worse.

/Grew up in South Carolina

100 watt, that moron made it our business when he called for a news conference to tell the world that he's banging some tart on the side.

Now if the wife in question was also cheating and/or the two have some understanding that sex outside the relationship is fine, then great. No harm no foul.

However, based on the information we have, I'm going to stick with my own views:

Cheaters are shiat and deserve to be treated like shiat.

2: 1 doesn't matter. He should have divorced her if that's the case instead of being a worthless POS.

3: I bet you blame a woman for getting raped.

The arrogance in here in astounding.

The governor is a rat, and on a base level, I think women should leave cheating husbands. But I would never presume to understand the dynamic between two people I've never farking met and know nothing about other than what I've gleaned from sensationalist news reports.

Public visibility != the public's right to know everything that goes on in a person's private life.

This applies to politicians and celebrities.

Now, if the public figure INVITES the public into their private lives (e.g. Paris Hilton), they're fair game - although I'm still at a loss to understand why anyone would care.

The governor opened this door by having the news conference. But it's still the height of arrogance to pronounce what you think his wife should do based on the paltry amount of information available to the public.

You don't farking know her. You don't farking know him. You don't know anything about their marriage or their family.

Minding his business in this case makes sense: He's accountable to the people of his state for his behavoir, and he's made this affair public.

Minding her business just makes you a worthless busybody.

Seems no one read the article. She is staying with her lying, cheating, diseased-riden ho bag husband because the "Lord" is with them or something. Pa-lease. That is weak. This is why divorce was invented.

*shrug*

You can only treat a woman the way she allows herself to be treated. Taking him back means if he cheats again you have no one to blame but yourself.

Shes already weak for saying she wants to work on the marriage, anyone with half a brain knows that once someone cheats the relationship is over. She wants to keep him thinking his political career can be salvaged, its a work people playing up to him coming home to her.

You obviously didnt read the article, shes a bible thumper and makes W look like an atheist, she needs to stay as far away from political office as possible.

She the heiress of the Skil Company (i.e. Skilsaw) so if they split all their assets 50-50 she stands to lose millions. He is just a governor.

That was sold back in the 70s and shes pretty removed so that money is probably long gone, she was however an investment banker so she most likely still has more money. He doesnt seem like a very smart man but the bible thumping would have ran most men off, cause it means she probably doesnt do anal.

I'd like to think that she knew about it the entire time, and leaked the emails to the press herself as part of a political coup engineered to garner national media attention and sympathy. Now she'll stick to the role of the embattled wife and mother, while keeping her husband squarely under her shoe, dragging him out from the shadows only to remind people of how he failed to shame her, and how she held her family together through sheer determination and force of will. And then she will run for senator, winning in large part thanks to the largely bipartisan support of women voters. Later on, she'll run for higher office, receiving a shock when a young black man sweeps the underdog rug right from under her with his universally appealing fable of overcoming adversity and poverty through hard work and dedication.
