Just because Dane Cook smashes sales records, sells out arenas, and is worth somewhere north of 60million dollars (which is tough to find, as there are a lot of fake reports out there).. and runs around with some of the best comedians and has the respect of comedians who are worth a damn.. doesn't mean that he's popular or good.. even if other, respected comedians say that he is good.. and he found a fantastic niche and makes lots of money from it and has tons of adoring fans.

Damnit, you were doing just fine until you pulled that line.

You know what? The first two Dane Cook albums were really funny and I think he was a talented comedian and rather unique at the time. Many people copy him now and his whole routine has gotten stale. Farkers don't care though because he isn't from the 70s or 80s. Also he is not, and will never be Bill Hicks so he's got that working against him.

The real tragedy in all this is that Dane Cook has millions of dollars to steal.

I liked his older material better than his new stuff, but I always laugh when people throw down the "Dane Cook stole from Louis CK" card and completely ignore that both Cook and CK's "funny kid names" bit is about 20 years too late. Steve Martin did it waaaaaaaay before either of them, and if you listen to all three, CK's sounds A LOT more like Martin's than Cook's does. So I guess since Cook's material coming out second is "proof" he stole it, it's "proof" Louis CK stole it too.

I don't get the love OR the hate for dane cook. He's made me laugh at times and I've been greatly underwhelmed in the same performance. He seems like kind of a mid-level guy to me as far as talent. So, to sum up - I'm shocked that so many people hate him so bad and I'm simultaneously shocked that he's made that much money.
