This is rumored to be the Owl that caused his fear of owls.

Just wondering..
and this wont spoil the movie.. but do they address how Tyrese goes from a MSgt to a CMSgt in whatever the timeframe between the two movies is?
because that's one hell of a STEP promotion.. for a guy who looks to be 34..and a Chief at that.

not that it matters.. i'm going to watch the movie for the action.

They don't explain the specific promotion, but the unit he's in allows for the promotion to happen quickly. I'm being cryptic, but I don't want to spoil anything.

If you liked the first, you'll like this one. There is a LOT more action.

I've seen some people who claimed to be terrified of frogs. FROGS. Harmless little amphibians that eat flies and pee on your hand when you pick them up. Spiders I can understand; I hate the damn things. Snakes I can see, even though I don't share the phobia. But owls? Frogs?

That's like being afraid of goldfinches.

The owls surely know more than they let on, but scary? nah.

Dr.Knockboots

It probably had something to do with helping to stop the hostile alien entities who had invaded the earth. I don't know military protocol though.

I can't relate, at all, to people who are terrified by an image of something... at least not an adult.

My oldest, back when he as about 4, walked in as we were playing Resident Evil (the first one, on the Playstation), and he absolutely freaked out at the opening sequence. I can understand that - he was 4, and zombies eating somebody is a pretty horrific thing (he was supposed to be asleep, but got up and walked downstairs into our living room as we played). Today, of course, he's not freaked out by that sort of thing, there isn't anything that "freaks him out" - he's grown out of it (he's turning 17 in July)

So an owl freaks a person out... that just doesn't seem rational to me. Fear-response is reasonable under certain circumstances, but unless he was butt-raped by a flock of owls as a child, how is it reasonable to be afraid of a bird? If it's not reasonable to be afraid of an owl, just how UNREASONABLE is it to be afraid of an IMAGE of an owl?

There is a book that is an interlude between the two movies. In it there is a new organization called N.E.S.T. (IIRC) that takes the place of Sector 7. Could have something to do with being a part of that. I don't remember what his rank in the book was or if it was even mentioned.

I remember working with a guy who claimed to have a phobia of plants with green stems.

When I was working in pet stores, more than once, I had people come in that were terrified of fish. Little, tiny tropical fish. Had one woman that would shield her eyes from the little beasties, and RUN past the aquariums on her way to the back to get her dog from the groomers. Same thing on the way back.

Sometimes phobias really make no sense at all.

Jesus, from the guy who wrote the crappy Star Wars interlude book "Splinter of the Mind's Eye". What a strange portfolio of books that guy must have. "Land Before Time 1 1/2: The story of Mediumfoot" and "Air Bud 4 1/2: Doggy Style: the story of the Air Buddies Birth"

I once worked with a guy who was terrified of moths. He made the mistake of telling the office this, and I made sure that by the next morning he had a close up of one of the dusty lil' farkers as his desktop.

Am I evil? Yes I am.

I think the owl in question was accompanied by a large frog and a hippo with a Southern drawl.

My buddy saw me playing Resident Evil and rather enjoyed that you shoot zombies...but he freaked THE fark OUT when he saw me put two more in its head after it fell down. Ran out and bought his own copy.

That's the definition of a phobia. And irrational fear. You can't explain it and people who don't have it can't understand it. You just have to acknowledge that it exists in some people.
