DVD boxset is totally worth it if just for seeing just how friggin hot Linda Rondstadt was when she was first starting out.

Dylan/Cash duet was pretty awesome too.

When I see old footage of Ray it reminds me what a fantastic job Jamie Foxx did in the movie.

Cool vid, thanks!

But, but, but... it's not a note for note copy of Johnny's version. That's how cover songs are done, right?

Seriously though, this was freakin' awesome!

That's how uncreative people do cover songs. Also see: Karaoke :)

Ray and Johnny RULE!!

Ray Charles was awesome. Johnny Cash was awesome. The two of them just being together was like an Oreos double stuf of awesomeness. But that was also a beautiful version of that song. It's one of my favorites.

all along the watchtower.

The ray charles version sucks, just because you "blues" a song up does not make it better.

Sometimes you can just fark up a classic song and thats what he did.

Too obvious. Something less known.

Awwwwww. Someone didn't like the black man "jivin" it up. And that is not blues, that's soul. Yes, there is a difference. Ray's performance gave us that rare glimpse of another view of the very same feelings a man would have for a woman, and expressed it beautifully. I'm sorry you don't like it, but it wasn't meant for you. I slow danced to this version and it makes it sooooooo much hotter this way. Cash created a burning flame. Ray made smoldering embers that flames come from.

/again, sooooo hot...

there's a dvd out there of all the best performances on his show. This one was like the worst one.

How about another Dylan cover by Hendrix? (new window)
