You just go right on thinking that.

Might want to check in with New Kids on the Block, ask them how their tour went............

It's the "I used to be Somebody" tour!

Poor ol' Cheap Trick.

Their management must suck out loud.

Cheap Trick by itself would be more of an event than this lineup

He's right. The event is a singularity. Caused by so much suck having nowhere to go but %/0.

Seen all three bands live, but not together.

Cheap Trick is awesome live. Lots of fun. Highly recommended.

Poison... well, they're a party band. Their live show was actually pretty impressive, even if it's a bunch of past-their-prime rockers. CC is a sloppy mess on-stage, for better or worse. When he sang "I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine," I honestly thought it was the worst vocals I had ever heard. But "Ride The Wind" is a great song.

Def Leppard was decent. I don't remember much else aside from enjoying the show.

Def Leppard on upcoming tour: "I think us, Poison, and Cheap Trick is pretty much an event"

Fixed, I would go if it was just cheap trick, most under rated band of all time and farking awesome live. Poison has got to suck, never saw them live because I never had a GF that liked them at all, saw Def Leppard and they were ok.

I think Def Leppard may be surprised at the number of people leaving the show after they see Cheap Trick play. I saw Def Leppard in their prime---an OK show but nothing I felt like seeing again. I've seen Cheap Trick a dozen times over the last 30 years and have always been impressed.

doninwv 2009-06-23 12:22:39 AM
I am filled with so much hope for the future after reading this.....well then again, I should know FARKers are so much above the general citizenry....... but Cheap Trick rocks BIGTIME and these other douches are not fit to launder their sweaty guitar straps.
I will be there for the Trick, then it's off ...to.... somewhere...

Endzone108 2009-06-23 12:37:07 AM
To echo the sentiments above, Poison puts on a good show and they know exactly who their audience is, chicks. It's worth going to see them for that fact alone.

I've always liked Def Leppard and wouldn't mind seeing them this summer but I know they won't play Me and My Wine or Saturday Night (High n Dry) so I'm not sure it's worth it.

Cheap Trick? Yep, sign me up.

These triple bills are great.

If they were all appearing separately, I'd have to avoid all 3 individually, but this way I can avoid them all at once.

I'm too cool to watch any band that could possibly be popular.

And whatever band you like, it's not as cool as my favorite band.

/did I cover it all?

Yeah, pretty much. All 3 bands have their moments, and I wouldn't mind catching this show. As Dee Snider likes to say..."there's nothing wrong with a little hair in your diet".

I was going to say explosive diarrhea but close enough.

angrygrizzly: I'm too cool to watch any band that could possibly be popular.

It has nothing at all to do with that for me. I like some "popular" bands that are considered crappy just like everyone else. But these three just happen to all be on my DO NOT WANT list.

I think we just about have a concensus.

I've been trying to forget def leppard and poison for the last 20 years, but Cheap Trick never gets old.

I have tickets to this tour in Cincinnati. Def Leppard sucks, Poison is a ton of fun live. Looking forward to seeing Cheap Trick, as I've never seen them before. 5 days later I will be seeing Judas Priest and Whitesnake.

Cheap Trick, I would go see. The others, not so much.

ArturoBandini 2009-06-23 09:30:39 AM
Funny thing is, I just saw a billboard for this concert this past weekend. Poison and Def Leppard were in nice, big type, while "Cheap Trick" was printed much tinier, in the lower corner of the billboard. If I hadn't looked back at it, I would have completely missed it.

Yet, Cheap Trick is just about the only reason I would even consider going to that show.

Luckily, I got to see them at a small club setting in 2000. They rocked, and I don't think a stadium show would improve on that memory. Particularly if it includes Poison. (Def Leppard I could tolerate a bit more)

wow. some real douchery in here. all three bands had their moments, let 'em play. go see 'em. or not. more chicks for me.

Obviously, I'm a Def Leppard fan. I saw them live with Billy Idol last year and it was pure win.

I love all the Gen X farkers here full of "OMG CHEAP TRIK IS SO KEWL!"

A) I love Cheap Trick
B) I would love to see Def Leppard / Cheap Trick
C) Poison is ass.

Basically it's prettymuch the "cool" thing on Fark to hate on Def Leppard despite the fact that they're actually a pretty damn decent hard rock / 80's band.
Most people enjoy them; they still sell out arenas even here in Canada.

Likewise it's very "music scenester" to enjoy Cheap Trick.

Try to be less predictable, farkers.

So, hating Poison isn't predictable?

Def Leppard, IMHO, did OK work on High N Dry and Pyromania. They were pretty much headed to shiatsville with Hysteria and didn't do anything worthwhile after that.

Cheap Trick has some shiatty moments - Lap of Luxury, The Doctor - but more than earns their cred if only for their first four studio albums and Live at Budokan.

Overall, for me, Cheap Trick's output contains more songs that I enjoy than Def Leppard's output. But that doesn't mean I don't like "Bringing on the Heartbreak."

The main problem is that Cheap Trick has very little in common with the other two bands. It's like putting Elvis Costello on tour with KISS. Yeah, they both write catchy songs, but clearly you're going to have some polarized camps of fans. Some people will like both, but a lot of fans are going to hate one or the other.

So I don't understand your scared "Gen X" rant - I'm not surprised that some people who like the more power-pop oriented Cheap Trick don't like the more "hard rock"-pop of Def Leppard. Just you wait until some Poison fan shows up here and tries to rip you a new one.

While all taste is obviously subjective, DL is historically the whipping boy for snarky cynics. Poison is generally also disliked by the population at large, not just the "music" community.

As a musician, I can tell you that the two bands are in completely different leagues with regards to overall talent (performing as well as songwriting). Hey, if people like Poison, more power to them.

Cheap Trick rules, at least on that we can agree.

Yes :)

And the next time a Cheap Trick fan gets too snarky (even me), just play the "The Flame" for them...

I'm going to the show to see Poison, Def Lepard, and Cheap Trick, in that order. I'm not saying Poison and/or DL are "better" than Cheap Trick, but I think CT was a little before my time. I know them as the other band from the Top Gun soundtrack. No, not Berlin, the OTHER other band.

Cheap Trick is worth going for - the rest of the bands are what earplugs are for. Large earplugs.

Also; Cheap Trick have written one of the best songs of all time. Rolling Stone said it, and I hate Rolling Stone - so the fact that they got one right kind of surprised me.

Think of Poison as a popcorn flick. They aren't the most talented band (CC won "Worst Guitarist" awards several times), they don't inspire much thought, but it's still a fun show.

Def Leppard is kind of rock music's Canada. They caught shiat in the 80's because they were almost, but not quite hair metal. They caught it in the 90's because they were too 80's, and now they catch it because they aren't "talented". I've always liked them. They have a nice, balanced sound with little of the hair metal goofiness. Their lyrics aren't all that deep but are enjoyable.

My point is that a band can be enjoyable without inventing their own genre. Technicality does not always equal talent or enjoyment, and simplicity does not always equal suck.

Lt. Cheese Weasel: I'd rather go see these guys. One of the hardest working outfits I've ever seen.

That may be true, but rock n' roll isn't only about the outfits.

Kenny Loggins?

No, Kenny Loggins was the artist from the Top Gun soundtrack. Berlin was the "other" artist from the Top Gun soundtrack. Cheap Trick is the OTHER other artist, though you could make an argument for Jerry Lee Lewis or The Righteous Brothers at #3.

I've seen all three. If the world were right, Cheap Trick would headline. Best live band of the three and Robin Zander is the best lead singer in the business. Besides, they have worked their asses off touring for years. I have seen them several dozen times.

I plan to leave after CT's set.

A: The Indigo Girls and the drummer from Def Leppard.
