Subby should realize that the jokers in the State Senate are far more corrupt and incompetent than Al Sharpton.

The reason NY State is in the mess it is is due to the politics and culture that make Reverend Al Sharpton relevant. The Democrat Identity Coalition political machine use of the state coffers and payrolls is bankrupting the state. Government is extremely expensive and delivers poor services at a greatly inflated price.

Now? Where have you been? Really. Have people ever not grandstanded for attention when politicially expedient?

Is the sky falling again, or did something unheard of actually happen?

No.

Culture of Corruption has been in charge in New York since Nelson Rockefeller's day.

And the likes of Mr. Sharpton pocket the difference.

How any Democrat can be a member of a party that Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton is a spokesperson for is amazing.

How do you grant this race bating huckster any relevance?

Telling New Yorkers not to be scared? They piss themselves and take to the streets every time it gets cloudy now.

Yeah that Sharpton is a real screw up.

Too bad we don't have capable people like Bush in charge anymore.

1. Don't blame the party for the asshattery of its members. I can point out any number of Republicans who have done ridiculous things that have resulted in people being ruined or worse, but I don't blame the Republican Party as a whole for it. And don't forget, this brawl in the State Senate was started by the Republican side of the aisle.

2. Sharpton seems to have mellowed out over the years. It could be that he doesn't have as much energy as when he was younger, or that he's gotten smart enough to pick his fights more prudently. He's not above manufacturing controversy for attention -- just ask Don Imus -- but he doesn't blame the White Man so much anymore, and hasn't incited violence in my memory.

3. He still has a strong base because of his extensive involvement in his community, and once again that's completely independent of his partisan identity. Given that the delay in legislation is disproportionately affecting the poor and unemployed, like those in his community.

4. Maybe it takes an asshat to know an asshat -- in which case Sharpton is uniquely qualified to intervene.

And just what the fark do you about New Yorkers? This is not Paris, you know.

My god, that's saying something. Maybe it's time for a return to the honest, open corruption of La Cosa Nostra.

Arkanaut: and hasn't incited violence in my memory.

Freddy's Fashion Mart. "We will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business on 125th Street." Sharpton went on in this vein for weeks in the summer of '95, until one of his goons went into Freddy's, shot and killed four people, then set the place on fire and killed three more.

The Crown Heights riots - although they were a big reason why the city finally jettisoned the imbecilic David Dinkins.

And Sharpton has still yet to apologize for the Brawley hoax. He finally paid off the judgments against him a few years ago, but he only did that by passing the hat. He never felt it in his wallet, you can be assured.

About the only thing I agree with Sharpton on is that he and I are both fully in favor of same-sex marriage. All he would need do is say the word and gay marriage would become law in New York. The GOP does not have the votes to stop gay marriage, and Sharpton does draw a lot of water in New York, regardless of whatever I may think of that situation. What is stopping gay marriage in New York is a handful of black and Hispanic legislators from the city - each and every one of them Democratic. But their constituencies are hugely homophobic. Does Sharpton call them out for their bigotry? Does he judge them on the content of their character? He does not.

And this state's Democrats make this worthless race-pimp a power-broker. Nauseating.
