Yep. My wife is Bipolar I, and the doctors pretty much have to shoot in the dark looking for the right combination of meds. The wrong combination can make Bipolars several orders of magnitude worse, if you can imagine that.

Yah. You should see them fight about every little thing having to do with the baby. The name. What kinds of activities will they allow her to do (nephew wants karate lessons, girlfriend wants only a frilly girly girl).

Our family actually has a plan in place that calls for the girl to not be left alone with the baby the first 6 months or so. Jesus wept...

Stop giving her Psych meds.

Check her thyroid and adrenals.

Full Thyroid AND Full adrenal testing.

can do it for under $300 bucks via online labs.

The Doctors are WRONG.

This goes for anyone diagnosed bi-polar.

Your Adrenal system is freaking out and switching on and off.

Mania/hypomania is really difficult to nail down and sometimes takes more than one psychiatric opinion. I've seen way too many people who tell me they've been diagnosed "manic depressive" and report no history of anything resembling mania/hypomania.

With drugs, sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. If you're diabetic there's an entire class of drugs off limits to you because they cause elevated blood sugar. It's a high-stakes crap shoot.
