Damn, did they already do the tracking? Cause their studio is right up the road from me.

Had the album for a bit now; first track with Wayne is devastatingly good, second track with whatsizname from the Super Furry Animals is pretty good, too. I think it falls apart from there.

Same here. It seems to go downhill from the start.

i agree 100%

Did you see/like Fearless Freaks, the FL docu? I liked it, but as far as music docs go, there are far better.

Belle & Sebastians "Fans Only" is great...The Microphones "Wise Old Little Boy" is good...

but by far the best music doc i have ever seen..."The Devil & Daniel Johnston".

Even if you dont know him, see it. You dont have to be familiar with his music to appreciate it. I knew only 2 songs and now im a much bigger fan.

"Fearless Freaks" has a special place for me because I grew up at the same time in OKC, just on the other side of town. I would have loved to attend one of their football games (if only to get a broken nose).

I just saw "The Devil In Daniel Johnston" last week and really enjoyed it...no surprise Jad from Half-Japanese would show up eventually. I kept thinking that Daniel sounded a lot like him long before they got together.

The Jandek one was disappointing.

Haven't seen it - what didn't you like?

I actually had a beer with the guy who made The Microphones docu. Hes just a quiet nice guy.

ryer banta.

Its a very short film, but for fans of him, its wonderful, and has an hour of deleted performances.

It's not so bad, it just doesn't have hardly anything in the way of new material. Everything was already available on http://tisue.net/jandek

Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots = Pure awesomeness

Transmissions From the Satellite Heart = Pretty friggin great

Clouds Taste Metallic = Very Good

Can't wait to hear some new stuff

//Actually have not heard any of At War With the Mystics.. not sure why...

just found out they're coming to Marrymoor Park in two months. May go and see.

Probably because it's not very good. At all. I wanted to like it because I liked Soft Bulletin and loved Yoshimi, but it's a turd. The Yeah Yeah Yeah song made me pity them.

never really understood the hate for the Yeah Yeah Yeah song. IMO, though, At War With the Mystics sounded way too much like Yoshimi outtakes mixed with studio-farkery to really be all that good.

Best song on At War with the Mystics: Pompeii AM Gotterdammerung. Swirling mellotrons, Steven Drozd vocals. Listen to that and forget the rest.

... and the Flaming Lips are still better than whatever crap you listen to, submitter.

Their live set, full of naked women, teletubbies and a giant bubble for Wayne, beat any show I've ever seen from other acts.

How so? I thought it was pretty good, given the lack of actual, substantial facts available about "Jandek".

/saw him in concert last year
//it was just as weird as you'd expect.

I think Steven Drozd should do a solo album.
