Why is The Pink Panther Theme going through my head?

from a article when he was arrested Slain, stuffed in closet:

Carpeno was staying with Mackie in her Village Green apartment at 71 Messenger St., where she moved last summer from North Attleboro, police said.

The 399-unit apartment complex is across from the Wood and Jackson elementary schools on Route 106.
Village Green apartment complex on Messenger Street in Plainville where the alleged murder took place.
After coming to Massachusetts last week, Carpeno allegedly spoke to a friend in Texas and told her he had killed his aunt.

According to prosecutors, the friend then called police in Austin, Texas, who in turn called police in Brockton. Brockton police then contacted Plainville police, who conducted three well-being checks at the apartment.

Police first went to the apartment Sunday night and spoke with Carpeno for about an hour, and Carpeno allegedly told them his aunt was fine.

Police came back Monday and again spoke to Carpeno, who police say told them his aunt would be home shortly.

When police checked on the apartment a third time, they observed Carpeno sleeping in a bed and decided to enter the apartment through a window. Once inside the apartment, police said they saw a bloody towel and blood on the walls.

They soon found Mackie's body in the closet and placed Carpeno under arrest.

notmtwain: "Decided to enter" sounds like an illegal search to me. He'll be out in no time.

Since it was their 3rd visit and they had initially received a report that a homicide had happened and only had BS excuses from the suspect it would be safe to assume that they had a warrant, but decided to enter surreptitiously rather than risk confrontation by knocking.

The element of surprise... it's not just for the spanish inquisition anymore.

"Fine. Go away."

"Hi, how ya doin?"
"I told you I was fine. Go away. Are all the crack dealers in jail?"

*"He's sleeping. Let's sneak in the window."*
*"Don't we need a warrant or probable cause?"*
*"Don't you read the news? Chicago police get away with this shiat all the time."

"HEY WTF?!"

Quick GNS shows other articles that confirm that the police did in fact have a warrant.

The dude needs to be blindfolded, stabbed repeatedly, and left for dead in a locked room.

Have a cousin that my parents let live in their rental home. Found her stealing stuff from us for drug money and had her sent back to jail. Ive written her off my christmas card list.

Not as bad as the article but I hate to see family get burned (or killed) by the hand that feeds.

Not illegal. The police can enter a private structure if they believe someone is in danger; or to prevent tampering with or destruction of evidence of a crime that has already been committed, or to prevent a suspect from escaping.

Yeah ATM, I should probably used Sick, or Dumbass, and probably NOT Amusing, but I guess there were too many choices. We don't have a "douchebag" or "A-HOle" tag yet.
