Somebody should pay me not to get pregnant ;)

UNC_Samurai [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 12:20:42 PM
Why Greensboro? How about in a town that really needs it, like Durham, Goldsboro, or Wilson?

namatad [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 12:21:08 PM
It didn't help any that the investigating officer was an idiot and a relative of the driver of the first pickup that hit me. I finally had to threaten him with perjory before he backed off.
from your profile

and people continue to defend cops?
why?

Kyosuke [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 12:51:35 PM
namatad: and people continue to defend cops?

Because anecdote != data.

namatad [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 01:24:10 PM
Kyosuke: Because anecdote != data.

by that same arguement, you should not defend cops
you should be neutral

in fact, the police should be forced to publish all data concerning police brutality and false arrests
cities and counties should make all settlements public record
because these facts would speak for theirselves and we wouldnt need annecdotal evidence

/yawn - just a few crackhead cops making the rest look like crap

Interesting.

I think we should pay kids in school for maintaining a decent GPA that progressively increases as GPA does.

Alas, how to finance such an operation in this economy.

teenage mothers are paid $1 a day by the city if they don't get pregnant

So they're already mothers. Greensboro doesn't want them getting pregnant again.

So if I up the bid, they...?

Seems a bit like closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out.

Given that raising a child costs a lot more than a dollar a day, this sounds like a good investment.

Of course, the BEST way to spend that money would be in birth control and sex education* but we don't have time for sensible solutions.

If the U.S. is really a capitalistic society I should be able to counter offer $10 to get them pregnant

Solty Dog 2009-06-14 04:47:21 PM
Condoms on average cost between $1.50 and $2.00 a piece, depending on what extras they want. If they would end up using that money to avoid pregnancy they would end up losing money and eventually be living on the government cheese.

It's a little more than that if you want satellite radio and heated seats.

litespeed74 2009-06-14 04:48:56 PM
I'd double what they're paying and give teen girls 2 bucks a day to try getting pregnant.

Bet they get paid more than that if they swallow.

Exactly. I never cease to be amazed at the amount of young girls/guys who are so ignorant on the topic of sex that they think the guy "pulling out" is an acceptable and practically fool-proof guard against getting pregnant.

You are a little behind the times, most economic theory now in days includes some game theory and randomness.

/still rational behavior is to be expected most of the time.

Condoms cost 75 cents/ea retail. Trojans. With spermicide. And ribs.

You sound pale

If they would end up using that money to avoid pregnancy they would end up losing money and eventually be living on the government cheese.

Ambiguous non-sequitur is ambiguous

Because a 16-year old who gets pregnant is really set for a life of success that doesn't involve government cheese.

Hey, I live in Greensboro. I wonder if I could broker some sort of deal with the city where they'd pay for me to be sterilized.

Granted, I don't already have any children, am college-educated, and am a productive citizen, so I may just have to fork over my own cash. Dammit.

I can do it for you for free. It may hurt like a mutherfarker but I'll make sure it works.

So how about a program where we pay males not to impregnate teenage girls?

Dirty Hot Linker 2009-06-14 05:10:20 PM
Scutter: Seems a bit like closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out.

I was thinking the same thing.

So they're paying them to stop farking up?
Instead of paying them not to fark up in the 1st place.
Where's the incentive?

How about a dollar for the mothers and 5 dollars for those who have never been pregnant.

Haoie 2009-06-14 05:10:32 PM
User pays? Not exactly.

Stinkoman87 2009-06-14 05:10:41 PM
This might make more sense if, you know, they weren't pregnant already.

Paying only a dollar a week, but to all between 14 and 18 that aren't parents (guys included) it might work better.

tbyte 2009-06-14 05:12:01 PM
Paying them $1 a day not to get pregnant is fine, but the problem is that they pay them over ten times that to get pregnant.

In before the jesus nuts who wharrgarbl about how preventing pregnancy amounts to abortion.
