I was nearly born in a White Castle. It was the only place open 24 hours at the time. Mom and the ob-gyn were both out of cigarettes and both stopped in on the way to the hospital to get a pack from the vending machine. We haven't had a White Castle here in a long, long time. Good times, good times.

Actually a few years back I walked up to the drivethrough of the local White Castle, it was late at night I was hungry and that was the only place with food within walking distance. A large African American woman came to the window and told me she could not serve me.

I looked back and said, "But I am really hungry and this is the only place with food around here".

She hollered to who I assume was her manager "He say he hungry"

A moment later she opened the window and sold me food.

It was a beautiful moment for me that I still remember years later.
