Rat piss is rarely over-roasted.

TeddyRooseveltsMustache: Coffee snob thread? Lame. -1

I had no idea preferring a cup of McDonald's coffee to a $5 sweetened milk drink flavored with coffee brewed form burned excuse me - "extra roasted" - beans made one a "coffee snob."

I admit that gingerbread concoction they sell at Christmas is damned good, but then I don't consider it "coffee," either.

dunkin donuts is shiat. mcdonalds is swill unfit for rats to piss out later. sorry, submittard, but you're a farkin idiot

I dislike Starbuck's, and I'll take subby's word about the rat piss, but the worst restaurant coffee I ever had, bar none, was from Roy Rogers. Tasted like it had been brewed on the chuck wagon when Roy was still alive, and left in the pot ever since.

Kome [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 02:14:35 PM
I just like cheap coffee. Even though plain old coffee at Starbucks is cheaper than their other drinks, it's still a little more expensive than getting a cup at 7-11 or McDonald's. And since Starbucks doesn't serve anything else I'm really that fond of that I can't get cheaper elsewhere anyway, I really have no reason to go there. Even the women who frequent it are still of lesser caliber than I can meet at a bookstore or a night club or a whorehouse... although they are sluttier, I'll give them that.

Well, it's half coffee snobbery and half low-hanging fruit. This must be the 12,581st thread bashing Starbucks. One generally finds a fair amount of agreement in threads like this, which is why I think people submit them.

If you don't like it, don't drink it. I don't really understand why people have to submit a thread every few days announcing to the world that they too are on the "Starbucks is overpriced, bad coffee" wagon.

jekostas 2009-06-14 03:04:58 PM
McDonald's has pretty decent coffee these days. Starbucks is for people that put assloads of flavoring in to their coffees.

To each his own, I don't drink either on a regular basis.

Starbucks is fastfood?

SaladMonkey 2009-06-14 03:06:14 PM
I actually dig the Starbucks Pike's Place coffee. Until they came out with that flavor, I preferred Dunkin.

I always thought that starbucks over-ground their coffee, rather than over-roasted. Too-fine particles can leave a burnt taste.

Exxon does have pretty good coffee. And I agree Starbucks is terrible and tastes burnt.

Besides, coffee should not smell like waffles.

I think starbucks has the best coffee. I take it black and everywhere else is too watery and weak.

I think Starbucks is a cool guy, eh burns the shiat out of coffee and doesn't afraid of anything.

John Buck 41 2009-06-14 03:10:44 PM
Bad enough that it tastes like shiat, but Starbuck$ also expects you to pay an exorbitant amount of money for it.

Forget about coffee, try finding someplace that serves a decent tea. The only thing that ever seems available is a Lipton tea blend or some generic version of it.

Death By Orange 2009-06-14 03:12:57 PM
Yay! Starbucks bashing thread! Their coffee does indeed taste burnt and super acidic. I only drink their tea and super calorie filled cremes. Those are at least a decent way to clog my arteries.

Why are you comparing straight coffee to specialty drinks? Oh yeah, because you wanted to slip your snark in regardless of how much sense it made.

msannomalley [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 03:15:25 PM
Unless your favorite brand of coffee is grown in Sumatra, eaten and shat out of lemurs, then picked out of the lemur feces, slow roasted, and sold for an ungodly amount of money per ounce, you are not a coffee snob.

No coffee snob here -- my preferred is 7-11 coffee. But Starbucks... yuck.

I know, I know, if I don't like it I shouldn't drink it. And I don't.

But what gets annoying is the hubbub around Starbucks. The middle aged women and college coed bimbos that think it's a fine dining experience and fairly SQUEEEEAL at the opportunity to sip some of that swill.

I suppose there's some "hurr hurr I'm anti-establisment" motivation going on in these arguments, but on the other hand their coffee, at least to me, is way WAYYY too bitter. That said, it does succeed in giving me a pretty good buzz, so it's got that going for it at least.

How much is a 20oz regular coffee going for over at Starbucks these days? $2? $3? I honestly can't remember.

NeuroticRocker [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-06-14 03:22:10 PM
dunkin donuts is good.

i enjoy it very much. and an extra large is less than $3 and keeps me alert for long enough.

its good enough for me

fuzzycuffs 2009-06-14 03:23:51 PM
Another coffee snob thread.

As far as straight up brewed (not espresso based drinks), I actually like Starbucks over Dunkin, and definitely over McD coffee, which I can't stand.

Sure, there are pretty better smaller chains and mom and pops out there, but what Starbucks gets right is consistency. No matter where I am, the Starbucks will taste the same. Is it the best? No. But I don't have to run the risk of getting crap.

whipbambucket 2009-06-14 03:24:26 PM
But to Starbucks defense, it's hard to get a grande rat-piss, so they got that going for them...

Starbucks coffee is good, too, and no, a regular cup of coffee is not $5 -- it's about even with most convenience stores.
