He did, the next day. The real question is should the Palins start acting like the Christians they pretend to be and accept that apology, or continue to completely misrepresent what Letterman said to score points with the idiots who make up their base?

Terrified Asexual Forcemeat 2009-06-13 11:43:56 PM
She accused David Letterman of child molestation, so he might as well just molest that child now.

Why? Should every comedian now have to apologize for every joke they say that someone finds offensive?

This is the dumbest damned issue ever.

The right-wing always complains about political correctness.

Now THEY are the champions of PC comedy?

Go figure, Republicans are lousy hypocrites like always.

And wow.

David Letterman.

What an edgy comedian, if you just woke up in 1983.

Wait till they find out about Howard Stern.

Oh, I forgot, the Bush administration banished him from terrestrial radio after Janet Jackson showed a tittie on TV.

These are the issues that are important to America's right-wing.

I vote we mock them more, and quite a lot more mercilessly. These idiots deserve every bit of it.

And I hope Letterman comes back on Monday mocking Palin silly for this nonsense.

No he didn't apologize. He explained (and in an unconvincing way), which isn't the same thing. When he actually says he's sorry and means it then Palin can consider whether to accept it or not. Speaking of idiots, I'd say the imbeciles who think Letterman is funny are far more qualified for that category than Palin's base.

I have to admit, if I had complete control over 26% of the population of the country and could make them dance like idiots at my command I'd be every bit as bad as the worst of the major GOP figures right now. There's no real power or gain, but the satisfaction of an unholy army of drooling retards doing anything I say is just too wild to pass up.

Come to think of it, this is the worst possible thing for Conan. All Dave has to do is make the most oblique references to Palin in his monologue and this could go on for weeks.

Sarah Palin is doing for Letterman what Hugh Grant did for Leno. Or so an AP article tonight says.

Well done for rescuing Dave's career, Palin. Our Liberal Overlords were worried that our left-wing influence was fading. We were even considering putting a Jew Hollywood Elite in his time slot.

That's quite a stretch there pal. I mean nothing can compare to the folks who still think Obama is a sekret muslim set to destroy all that is good about America from the inside. Those people kick idiocy up a notch compared to folks who find a few topical jokes funny.

She's got an 18-year-old daughter that was knocked up by some redneck fisherman who left her.

That's grounds for mockery.

I must be one of the imbeciles, because I thought Letterman was quite amusing. Palin and her entire family are exhibitionists, and will do anything for attention. She is loving this entire mess, just for the attention.

CanisNoir [TotalFark] 2009-06-14 12:58:25 AM
First. The defense that "He really meant her 18 year old" isn't a defense at all. If you're going to make a joke about a political figures daughter, at least do your homework and know which one is actually attending, if for no other reason than to avoid looking like a dick who picks on under age girls.
Second: It's a valid point to rub his nose in the fact that he did in fact mock a fourteen year old girl and suggest in a joking fashion that she was going to be farking an adult male. If for no other reason than he didn't do his damn homework.

Now as for this whole controversy, I'm sure the Palins are a little pissed that people keep using their kids to strike at them; no parent on the face of the planet wouldn't be. Add to that the fact that this is giving her a whole host of press time and interviews in which she can showcase the new pipe line deal and demonstrate how up to snuff she is on National matters; Both ABC and CNN asked her about National Issues such as Missile Defense, North Korea and the Iran elections as well as her pipe line. Each one finished up the interview with a Letterman question, which I'm sure was the main reason they asked for an interview.

So yea, keep playing this like the Palins are the bad one's in this whole thing. Letterman didn't apologize, he joked about the mix up and that's it. An apology consists of a heart felt "I'm Sorry" and he hasn't done that yet.

He should.

You do realize Letterman made reference to the daughter she was in town with, the 14 year old daughter. Right.

That's not going to happen, either.

I DID watch Letterman say he wasn't talking about the 14-year-old and act like a MAN and talk like an adult about what he said.

You apparently are just a victim. And are not enough of a grown-up to listen to him.

I'd disagree with that if it weren't for the fact that she put herself out there on talk shows and magazine interviews. If you're an adult and you choose to make yourself a public figure you should be prepared for stuff like this, especially when what you're famous for is such an easy punchline for lazy writers.

The slutty stewardess joke was in poor taste but certainly not shouldn't have been as big of a deal as it ended up. However, trying to claim the knocked up joke was made about the younger daughter is a farking ridiculous attempt to milk more publicity and act like a poor victim of that big mean liberal media.

I've haven't seen a huge controversy about this like so many are trying to turn this into. You know this is only going to embolden Letterman right?

I worry about Conan too, maybe they can put him back at Late Night. Jimmy Fallon turned it to shiat.

Yes I changed the topic but really, is this worth discussing. Oh one more thing:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno."

Oh man, I'm not getting sucked into this again.

OK, just one comment: in order for it to be both offensive and malicious, you have to prove that Dave meant Willow and not Bristol. Since he came out and said that he meant Bristol and didn't realize it was Willow, he's guilty of bad taste but not anything else. So it might be offensive, if you get off being offended that someone else's daughter was insulted, but it ain't malicious.

You know, this is the thing that irritates me the most. The fact that he was so callous about the fact that he would be making fun of somebodies daughter on national TV that he didn't even bother to fact check; he just heard "Sarah Palin and Daughter" and off went the joke.

The lack of fore thought on his part is quite telling and really the most infuriating thing of this for me.

Having conquered non-Republican AM radio hosts (for a few months in 2003), the lunatic American right-wing sets its sights on network late-night comedy hosts!

At this rate, they'll have gotten to 18-year-old tranny porn online by 2123.

Good luck waging that War Against Christmas this year, lunatic Republicans. You're spreading the troops too thin.
