I farking love The Eagles, man.

Way too much classic rock stations in my teenage years. This song is utterly unlistenable at this point.

the Hotel California is now known as the California Rehabilitation Center (new window).

The lyrics make a little more sense if you know this.

they are a shell of what they once were with Felder and Meisner gone. Yeah they are still good and can play hits for hours. But it's just missing that guitar and the high tenor.

I've never really cared for the Eagles, but this is a fantastic song.

Please don't link to a reunion tour performance with a bunch of stone cold sober Californians in the audience.

Needs more Don Henley afro.

Why is it with all songs from that era people attach these bizarre meanings, some bordering on conspiracy theories?

I mean, Pearl Jam has some fairly confusing and cryptic lyrics, and its not like people instantly read "Satanism!" into it

This is tied with "The Joker" at the top of my list of the worst classic rock songs ever.

Don Henley's gonna tell me how to vote. I don't farking think so, ok? I got two words for Don Henley, Joe Farking Walsh, ok!? Thanks for calling, Don! How long's your pony tail now?

You're going to have to search it out for yourselves, but Don Felder did a farkin great acoustic version of Hotel California on the Howard Stern Show a couple years back.

He also did a lot of biatching about Henley and Frey, but that's to be expected.

Some years ago I went to a performance of a friend-of-a-friends garage type band. They had some original stuff which wasn't half bad and they did some covers, one of which was Hotel California. You could hear my facepalm across the room when the lead singer came out with "her mind is definitely twisted", but wouldn't you know ever since then I have that stuck in my head when I hear this song.

The only Eagles song I really like is Journey of the Sorcerer. Mostly because it's the theme from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie/mini-series.

Didn't the Eagles say that 'Hotel California' wasn't based on a real place? It was a metaphor for the music industry or Hollywood or somethin'.

I saw a Felder autobiography in a bookstore a couple days ago, for any of you hardcores who are interested.

And 'Take the Money and Run'

Yeah, I was a fan before they made it big - in fact and in ref to the YES video I saw them open for Yes (with Gentle Giant in between in the summer of '73) but man, do I hate almost everything after
'On the Border' and this song just sucks.

THIS x infinity.

Much love for Walshs' work, but it was Felders' guitar work (and in this case, writing) that gave the Eagles that awesome sound they had, back when they mattered as a band.
Those two farks shafted him badly. Result: they'll never see another dime of my money.

Are you retarded?

#1 hits:
Best of My Love
One of these Nights
New Kid in Town
Hotel California
Heartache Tonight

Very popular songs by them that charted ok, but not really high:
Take It Easy
Witchy Woman
Peaceful Easy Feeling
Already Gone
Lying Eyes
Take it to the Limit
Life in the fast Lane
Long Run
I can't tell you why
Seven Bridges Road
Get Over it

Album Sales:
Eagles: Platinum
Desperado: x2 Platinum
On the Border: x2 Platinum
One of the Nights: x4 Platinum
Hotel California: x16 Platinum
The Long Run: x7 Platinum
Long Road Out Of Eden: x7 Platinum
Eagles Live: x7 Platinum
Hell Freezes Over: x8 Platinum
Greatest Hits Vol 1: x29 Platinum
Greatest Hits Volume 2: x11 Platinum
Very Best Of: x5 Platinum

You can make a fair case that their type of music is not for everybody - including you. But you have to be a functional retard to believe their success was based of Hotel California. Seriously, are you that big of a troll or that big of an idiot? I'm serious - I'm trying to learn how/why people think the way you do. Help me out here.

I think I may love you. I've been trying to find the theme for ages, and was never able to. I'm an Eagles fan too, just didn't happen to own One of These Nights.
