Say what you want about them but they can kick your ass live. Hurray for Montreal bands!

I thought that video was pretty wretched, as are most of their live shows. I feel bad that so many people hate the Arcade Fire because of their boring, incompetent live act and haven't heard their two amazing albums.

I sort of like to dislike the Arcade Fire, but I have definitely listened to Funeral a lot. I guess it's a pretty damn good album.

I have a problem with Arcade Fire...I have both CD's, yes CD's, preach how awesome they are to everyone, but one nagging issue I have with them is that they seemingly couldn't give a crap about their fans.

They all but refuse to tour, just do random shows here and there. They know that their fans would suck their collective teat given the chance so they blatantly ignore the very people that make them who they are.

Love the music, hate the people.

God I hate hipsters.

wildcatfan82 2009-06-13 02:28:01 PM
Is it just me, or does Win Butler have about the stiffest playing style on guitar of any musician, ever?

It's like every muscle in his body is tense. It's almost uncomfortable to watch.

FatSteveWasted: God I hate hipsters.

Hipsters hate the Arcade Fire. What's your point?

/live in Brooklyn
//know real hipsters
///I hate them too

Gals Panic 2009-06-13 02:53:15 PM
Are the Brooklyn hipsters all wearing rat-tails on the side of their heads like the Portland, OR hipsters? I bet that's old new out east, huh?

/love Arcade Fire
//Saw them last at the Larimer Lounge in Denver
///Got hit in the head with broken drumsticks

Funeral is a kickass album.

This gets a +1 like that.

I noticed that too. Zero fluidity.

I was. They and LCD Soundsystem were terrific.

I've always liked how AMG's review describes Funeral:

"Funeral's mourners -- specifically Butler and Chassagne -- inhabit the same post-apocalyptic world as London Suede's Dog Man Star; they are broken, beaten, and ferociously romantic, reveling in the brutal beauty of their surroundings like a heathen Adam & Eve."

I think that could cause them to stick around for quite awhile because they simply enjoy making music, and aren't making songs or performing to please anyone but themselves. Getting caught up in what the fans think and expect has burned out many a good band.

So I clicked because it was one of the few songs on the album that I liked. That performance was awful and didn't do the studio song justice.

That said, Arcade Fire is extremely overrated.

OMG Ira Glass sings for Arcade Fire?

probably my favourite live song of arcade fire is "wake up" from Glastonbury [i think it was glastonbury... hell most of the A.F. tracks from that are spectacular.... except for the horn parts on "my body is a cage"... out of tune or something... baaaaaaad.]

Her name is Sarah Neufeld, and I agree, she is rather delicious.

/I'm still convinced that Napoleon Dynamite is in this band.
