I seem to recall the extended version of that song had a kick-ass drum lead-in, though I haven't heard it in...*counts on fingers*...28 years.

Correct, it does but I can't find it on You Tube. I have it on my Ipod with that lead in.

You're welcome. There is another clip on You Tube of him talking about writing We Are Family and I have heard him tell the story of writing Le Chic (new window) and originally it was "Ahhh fark Off" instead of "Ahhh Freak Out". Good story though

No reason to be ashamed of liking disco. It was really like any other musical genre: some really great stuff, some shiat.

Unfortunately, also like many genres, the shiat seems to be what people talk about.

Nice find! Nile Rodgers is bad ass.

I always wondered about that!

I've always found it easier to just say, "I'm gay for girls"

Nice clip, but it's a shame they had to record the sound off a room mic (with all that slap and reverb) instead of a direct line from the board.

Very interesting man when I heard him speak at the RRHoF a couple of years back. He also talked David Bowie out of recording "Let's Dance" as a country song, so for that alone, he deserves "Hero" status.

"With special guest Larry Hagman!"
There was so much win in those credits, thank you for that link.

Yup to both. Calling it dance music avoids the whole 'disco' thing, too btw.

And if you get any shiat, just tell them that the Stones'
'Miss You' is disco, that usual shuts up people.

I thought Niles was dead, for like four or five years now.
Anyone got any info on that?

Chic, the disco band the showed you could find some awesome musicians in disco. Rogers is a great guitar player, Bernard Edwards was just an insane bass player and then Tony Thompson, easily one of the best drummers to walk the earth.

/Rogers and Edwards started off with a rock band, and they never gave up on playing rock, even played punk

Disco started out strong but as the country mired in recession, the big record companies would not risk putting out any kind of new music. Disco got very stale. Let's see, shall we give a shot to a new band, or have Ethel Merman put out a disco album? Hmm. It's probably why so many rockers gave up on new music and left us this heritage of Classic Rock stations.

Pfft. What an amateur. It's a waste of time composing your own riffs when you can simply get Timbaland to steal somebody else's!

Disco was awesome. The backlash against was a backlash against gays by a bunch of homophobic, closeted thugs. Disco's never gone away. It's just changed it name a few times.

I kept jumping around in that video a bunch and never saw Bruce Springsteen even once.
