Yes, it does. I had that book as a teenager and a friend and I tried the banana recipe. Twice. It's complete bullshiat. There is no high at all, and it tastes disgusting.

There IS such a thing as lettuce opium though. They sold it in head shops in the 70s. It's made from the stump of the lettuce.

I made some tea from the Jimson seeds on a trip (heh!) in the Mojave a few years ago, definitely an experience, but nothing I couldn't handle. I actually had a vision too. A stupid, pointless vision, but a vision nonetheless. As far as the effects, I didn't see anything that wasn't there, but the stuff that was there (mountains, stars, shrubs) certainly wasn't behaving itself. It kept moving away when I tried to look at it...

I chewed copenhagen from the age of 12 to 26 when I decided I wanted to quit. Going cold turkey was not an option so I spent 3 years on cherry skoal before spending another 3 years on skoal bandits.

Then I got a tongue ring after I quit so that I would not start up again.

Its now 10 years later, I still have the tongue piercing and I can tell you having had the occasional salad in the last decade it is not nearly as addicting as copenhagen.


I still get the occasional craving.
