That guy that's shaving Colbert's head looks like he could snap a gorilla's neck and punch through a battalion of tanks or three.

That whole thing was full of win and awesome.

Yea I don't think the General hears the work "No" very often.

anyone got a link to the video?

That's what I call mine, too.

Former Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain also made a surprise appearance in a videoclip in which he thanked the troops for their service and reminded them to clean their muskets.

Yea verily, I did guffaw.

So he shaved his head, BFD. Why doesn't he do something that is actually impressive, like capture Osama Bin Laden. This guy is a windbag.

I thought it was established that there was no connection between Iraq and Bin Laden.

I think it airs tonight.

"I especially appreciate the fact that he could make fun of both sides and you'd learn something and you'd laugh," said Chaplain Lt. Col. Barbara Sherer, 52, from Springfield, Mo.

I imagine the Chaplain was the only one who could provide a quote that did not require heavy editing.

:-)

It's because the military hasn't yet started the "TV comedians as special ops assets" program.

Is there ever a "media appearance" that McCain ISN'T a part of? I say the guy is a bona-fide celebrity.

Now THAT's funny.

Definitely need to put Colbert Report back on the TiVo for tonight. I'd have it already but I just don't have the time to watch it anymore... but for this I'll make the time.

I disagree with his politics... but the dude is funny. Good for him for doing this... These little tastes of home is always a big morale boost. We got hosed my last deployment.

Yes... It's his liberal (real life) politics I don't agree with. I'm not an idiot. Still like him though.

He's to partisan for me. John Stewart will rip on both sides that's why he da man.

Can't stand the ColberT reporT, or the character of Stephen ColberT.
He was good as a small sideshow on the daily report but that's about it :(

picturescrazy 2009-06-08 01:23:04 PM
I'm looking forward to this, but I'm kind of annoyed that the reporter pretty much reported on tonight's show. I'd rather find out about it as I watched it.

MonkeyAngst 2009-06-08 01:25:57 PM
I'm told Colbert is actually pretty damn popular with the troops, politics be damned (and yeah, there are a lot of liberal servicemen and women, they're just a minority). He made fun of the CiC to his face, after all. Every soldier's fantasy.

Guntram Shatterhand 2009-06-08 01:26:53 PM
So when are O'Reilly and the other nameless losers on Fox News going to shave their heads in support? Or are they not American enough? ;)

Duh, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman helped do that early in the war. Don't you watch South Park?

The Colbert Report is arguably funnier than than the Daily Show, and the Daily Show is hilarious.

There is a big difference. Colbert did it for the troops and you did it for gay fetish sex. NO ARTICLE FOR YOU!!

Colbert had done everything short of tap dancing nekkid to get people to help the troops and not tune out the war.

Sooo...Colbert is against the war, but now he supports it?

Whut?

"Colbert, who traveled to Iraq from Kuwait on Friday on board a military transport plane, has said he was spurred to make the trip when he noticed economic news coverage eclipsing reports from Baghdad."

Even if it's part of the Colbert character, it's cool.

I think you will find, good sir, if you think it over, that there might be a smidgen of a difference between supporting the troops and supporting the war.
