Do you know what is really horrible and stupendously sad about the whole thing? He is the MOST reform minded mayor New Orleans has ever had, and cleaned up the most corruption of any city official in it's history.

Can you imagine that! He is literally the best they have ever had.

Supposed Nagin had donated the manpower andtime to move the busses to high ground when New Orleans had literally two days to prepare for the storm. There would still have been the logistics of figuring out what to do with people once they were loaded onto the buses. Then, considering there were 20,000 people at the convention center and 40,000 at the Superdome and many more on rooftops, we have to consider the numbers here. If there are 150 buses in that photos and 100 people were put on each bus, it still would have only evacuated 15,000 people leaving many more stranded. That's IF the logistics of the entire scenario were worked out, stuff like - where to take people, what can they bring along, who stays and who goes.

Like I said, I hate Nagin but I hate people who site those buses as an example of his failure. He has many more serious ones. (new window)

It is common practice in Japan, Singapore, China and perhaps other Asian countries to quarantine EVERYONE on the whole plane if someone on the plane shows signs of the flu. If the person lives in the country, they will be quarantined to their house and have to wear an GPS ankle bracelet. The foreigners get quarantined to a hotel. Sorry, but there is nothing racist about this act. Perhaps it is excessive, but it is their country so they can do as they please.
