I had my first automated, negative poll pop up on my cell phone today. First, it asked me if I voted for a Democratic candidate in the 2008 election, to which I said yes. Then it asked me if I planned to vote for another Democratic candidate, explaining she was the most liberal Democrat ever, to which I said yes. Then it asked me if I would still vote for her even though she double-charged her time to two different jobs on the same day, to which I said yes. It thanked me and hung up.

I remember in 2008 all the classy comments about Obama being a Muslim, not being an American, the racist comments from Republicans at their assemblies, even the stuffed monkey one old man had, dressed up as Obama.

I remember the passion and hatred yelled out over gays and lesbians, over liberals and Democrats, etc. here on Fark and in other threads in veterans' blogs.

I've debated the left. I've debated the right. Generally, the right tends to be more polite, but I have run across extremely rude people on that side. The left's attitude is "you are a farking moron for not agreeing with me immediately, go fark yourself." And I've also debated with extremely polite people on the left.

Both sides can piss off. I'm tired of the left's rude dismissal of any opposing viewpoint and I'm tired of the right's cluelessness.
