They should have let WND go forward with the billboards. Seriously--the more WHARRGARBL we can throw on the fire, the better.

I can't believe they don't see how their campaign can be offensive.

I can't believe they claim it's "not a political ad" just because they don't mention Obama's name.

So according to CBS, a billboard with nothing but "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE? wnd.com" on it is "misleading, offensive, or otherwise incompatible with individual community standards," but anti-religion billboards placed near churches are not?

Yes. And they're right.

House of Tards [TotalFark] 2009-06-06 01:30:00 PM
Dude, CBS is doing you a favor here. "Where's the Birth Certificate" makes absolutely no sense to anybody who isn't already ranting on the Internet about how Obama can lie about being a Muslim due to Taqiyya. The rest of the country doesn't care. Hell, even the folks at RedState.com (librulz stole all the web developers, so we can't update our site) aren't buying this.

Aside from your readers, the rest of us understand that you can order a copy of your birth certificate and it won't actually be a mimeograph of the one that was created on the day of your birth. This is due to the fact that there are nifty things called databases now that act like really large filing cabinets.

You have your coded shorthand that only people in your movement understand, and that's not going to appeal to or be understandable to anyone outside your little clique.

If by some chance some poor sap thought that your billboard merited an visit to WND.com they would see a big pile of craziness where you always use quotes around Gay, and you suggest that people stockpile food and colon cleanser for the upcoming apocalypse.

All these billboards are going to do is allow WND to waste the rubes' money so that you're next advertising campaign can say the the birth certificate movement is growing ("Why, look at how many billboards have sprung up around the country!").

Everyone else will just shake their heads and move on.

Well, there are actual real life atheists and agnostics in these communities, some of whom may feel kind of isolated if the community is very religious. There are no Kenyans who are POTUS.

One is absolutely false, fairly racist and borderline treason. The other is freedom of speech and religion. Figure out which is which.

Actually, I probably should tell you since you'll have trouble figuring out which is which. The birth certificate crap is borderline treason.

"Here we have one of the largest media companies in the U.S. now not only refusing to allow news coverage of a vitally important national question being asked by millions of Americans, but one that won't even permit the purchase of space to raise the question," said Farah. "What is the value of a First Amendment in a country when this kind of self-censorship is at work - self-censorship specifically geared to stifle inquiry and debate about the most powerful person in the country."

Wait - are we talking about RIAA/MPAA or the birth certificate thingie? Or legalization of cannabis?

I'm confused.

Capitalism only counts when it helps your cause. No one was complaining when GKC cinemas wouldn't show Fahrenheit 9/11...except for the GKC shareholders possibly.

yeah, I'd agree with that assessment. I don't get why the WND crew thinks the birth certificate is any sort of big deal. But then again, they all are convinced that Obama is both a seekret mooslim AND a godless commie out to take their guns. So I don't exactly credit that crowd with a lot of intelligence.

Now, if they wanted to discuss rising unemployment and what, if anything, Obama can do to keep jobs in this country...THAT would be an interesting discussion.

I love right wing assholes when someone "censors" them.

I remember a few years ago, a lawncare company didn't want gay customers. People were all upset, but the right wing assholes were cheering them on, saying "They are a private business! They can do whatever they want and refuse service to anyone!"

But when someone refuses right wing business, its "LIBERAL AGENDA!!!!" time.

Hypocrites.

Oh, did they ever do that fix tax evasion loophole/no more tax cuts for shipping jobs overseas stuff?
Because that sounded good when it was brought up but I haven't heard about it since.

that wasn't a 'loophole' it was a bought and paid for escape hatch. And no, to my knowledge it hasn't been 'fixed'. Nor will it be 'fixed'. It'll will quietly drop off the radar until everyone forgets about it.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

It's more being an asshole who has no concept of the workings of the world outside their artificially inflated personal outrage bubble along with way too much extra time than being actively working with enemies of the US.

I maintain. Not treasonous, but full retard.

Sumner Redstone is the majority owner. Aside from the laws that CBS has to follow due to being an over the air television network, it is a private business.

They already said it. They raised $64,000 for this campaign, KNOWING FULL WELL they'd never have to put up a single billboard. Even the poorly-done photoshopped billboard in the article was in an area that already doesn't support Obama, so why would they bother to advertise there?

The whole thing was nothing more than a pathetic attempt to raise money on peoples' hate.

People got a right to know whether their president is constitutionally eligible to be president. It would be simple enough to order release of the original birth certificate to put these concerns to rest.

Instead, you get these strange overreactions -- it's misleading, offensive, incompatible with community standards, racist, mentally retarded, treason -- people start to wonder why all the hysteria. Just release the birth certificate.
