(Starpulse) Spiffy Aerosmith promise sweet emotion if you walk this way to see them this summer as they'll be playing the entire "Toys in the Attic" album. Ticket prices will make you feel like you sucked on a big ten inch... record though   (starpulse.com) divider line 32

Every time I saw them live they sucked. 3 total shows, once headlining and twice as openers.

Aerosmith sucks. I don't think I'll ever understand their appeal. Granted, "Dream On" is a half decent tune, but the rest of their stuff is trailer-trash, hair-rock. The kind of shiat that "inspires" bands like Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd.

I saw them in Hawaii, way back when Steven Tyler was touring without Joe Perry. Tyler was fresh out of rehab, and sounded GREAT. He nailed "Dream On". This was 82 or 83 or 84.

This after seeing the drugged up original band at a Day on the Green about 5 years before, where Tyler was so wasted, he hit himself in the mouth with the mic, and started bleeding.

So I got a horrible Aerosmith gig, followed years later by a good one (albeit only partial band).

/not interested this time around

My wife who has been to way more concerts than I says hands down that Aerosmith put on the worst concert she has ever seen. (The best was Roger Waters at the Gorge in Washington.)

"Toys In The Attic" was a great album, from the title track to "You See Me Cryin'" at the end. (I got it as an Easter present when I was a kid, right before I got Alice Cooper's "From The Inside" for 6th grade graduation)

Hooligan32: Aerosmith sucks. I don't think I'll ever understand their appeal.

Fair enough. Once they figured out that they could make more MONEY doing shiatty power ballads, they were done.

Granted, "Dream On" is a half decent tune, but the rest of their stuff is trailer-trash, hair-rock. The kind of shiat that "inspires" bands like Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd.

You probably haven't listened to any of the non-radio stuff they did in the 70's. Believe it or not, Aerosmith used to be a real rock band.

Even Permanent Vacation had some decent songs on it, but from Pump on they have been nothing more than a pop band. Toys is their best disc by a mile or more. Of the four times I've seen them, they did Toys once and even that sucked. There is so much synth and recorded backing vocals that it's almost like a Britney show.

It's decent if you like them in the first place, but keep in mind it's from their cocaine days, which made them play everything a little faster because a.)they were all hepped up on coke and b.)they wanted to hurry up and finish the set and go do more coke.

/Got my copy pretty cheap on vinyl. You may wanna do the same if this is an option for you.

I'd go to see ZZ Top, because I really like "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" and "Cheap Sunglasses". Not to mention there are some pretty cool Aerosmith tracks. If they didn't play "Sweet Emotion" I'd probably get up and leave.

Put me in the Rocks>Toys in the Attic camp. Both are fantastic records, though.

Last time I saw these douchebags was around 1984 in Springfield, IL.
Tyler was so farked up, he was reading the lyrics off of cue cards for "Back in the Saddle" when he fell off of the stage. After getting back on the stage, he promptly got into a fist fight with Tom Hamilton, and the show was canceled after 1/2 a song.
No refunds.

Good album review. Never seen Aerosmith & always wanted to. Sounds like they might be a decent show sober. If not, then three guys from Texas can always save the day.

Aerosmith should play all of Toys and Rocks, throw in a couple off of Get Your Wings, encore with Mama Kin and Dream On. And ZZ Top might still be the better show.

Nah, not by half. This has been going for a couple years now. I think the first was Slayer, playing "Reign in Blood".

If you're into watching old guys struggle to keep pace and stay interested in what they're doing then I highly recommend you get tickets for this concert.

On the final night of the Green tour in '89, R.E.M. surprised the Atlanta audience by playing all of Murmur, then taking a break and doing all of Green.

endurance.
