Ok, I'm fine with him saying that LB doesn't have talent. Billy Corgan is pretty hardcore though.

DwightFrank [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:19:38 PM
hard to argue

Great Metal Jesus [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:21:06 PM
How are the Smashing Pumpkins idiot thugs with guitars? No argument on Limp Bizkit, but Corgan and then don't strike me as the thug type.

rickythepenguin [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:21:32 PM
Limp Bizkit hasn't existed for like, 8 years, and the last true SP album was in like, 2000.

Way to stay topical, James Osterberg.

unlikely [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:21:38 PM
That's a complement coming from him.

He probably meant it to be flattering, too.

ne2d [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:23:30 PM
So some old guy thinks that today's music is no good--shocking.

Blues_X [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:27:02 PM
When you make insurance company commercials, I think you've lost some of the standing you had to launch criticisms at other "artists".

I don't completely disagree with him, I'm just saying...

yogaFLAME [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:29:10 PM
Modern cuisine is so bland nowadays too, what with all its apples and oranges.

Dr.Knockboots [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:31:43 PM
While I am not defending either of those artists.. has Iggy done anything recently.. or within the last.. 25 years?

Oh, then there's this:
"Pop's 2003 album Skull Ring featured collaborators Sum 41, Green Day..."

Um.. Sum 41? and he makes fun of Smashing Pumpkins?

gilgigamesh 2009-06-05 05:34:41 PM
Yeah, Iggy! Way to tear into those cutting edge pretenders... from... uh, fifteen years ago.

Kids today! I mean, yesterday. Or something.

Anyway, keep off Iggy's lawn.

He's old

chemical_angel [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 05:36:20 PM
I love me some Stooges and some Iggy but um ... He isn't exactly a musical genius. It isn't that I disagree with him, really ... It's just that he's kind of a putz too.

pwhp_67 2009-06-05 05:41:18 PM
No good movie has ever been made in color either.

And don't get me started on today's plastic cars...

Okay, what did Iggy Pop ever do that was so artistic and innovative, as opposed to just entertaining?

ToxicMunkee [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 06:15:28 PM
It's sad when legends turn all "get off my lawn" and forget that their forbearers said the same things about them.

Nothing against Iggy Pop, but has he heard Gish?

Its hard to imagine anyone who has heard that album calling SP crap.

Iggie Pop is pretty talentless. At least he has his wacky, wild stage personae to coast on.

What did he do that was innovative? Have you ever heard of a genre of music known as Punk?

Iggy Pop was on Pete and Pete.

I tend to give Iggy a pass on most things, but he's making it harder and harder these days. He hasn't done or said anything completely outrageously retarded, but all the little-to-medium things are adding up quick. hmm.

It's not even "today's music" that he's just now trashing.
If he lives another 10 years he might learn to hate the current new music too.

He was in the 2nd Crow movie so he had that going for him... or not. It was an awful movie.

To be sure, I wouldn't buy my auto insurance from either Durst or Corgan.

/I prefer to think Iggy mysteriously vanished after The Idiot.

dougiezerosag: Can Iggy Pop even play a farking guitar?

In his teens he was a great drummer who would play paying gigs with real blues acts in Chicago.

Man, guys slammin' Elvis in one thread, Iggy in this one. No respect, no understanding. You're all the Fark Independents Of Rock.

Yeah.
There is only a few dozen trends and genres profoundly affected if not wholly spawned by his legacy since the 1960s.

That said-yes, he contributed a lot to the genesis of punk (mainly by being one of the few to self-destruct slowly enough to not die outright), but this man is long past his prime. He needs to retire. And try very hard to get into this century.

He did a few pretty good covers of Junior Kimbrough songs for Fat Possums Junior Kimbrough tribute album.

That's about it...

Wow, normally farkers are pretty lame as far as music is concerned, but this Iggy hate is surprising.

The Stooges are one of the most important bands in the history of music and Iggy was a big part of that influence.

His frontman personal defined proto-punk and led to countless other vocalists giving it their all.

But, why am I even wasting my time? Most of you think that punk rock started with Green Day.

Morans.

I can only guess they were trolling. I mean Iggy Pop. I can't even get offended by that, I can only shake my head and wonder (if we're talking rock n roll here) at the crap they listen to
