What the hell are they reporting on now at 71 and 72 that they have to be arrested? The flavor of the jell-o at the home?

Considering the guy had top-secret clearance till he retired two years ago, maybe a lot?

Well, you see, it's not that they're doing anything right now, it's that they were spying for Cuba for thirty years. You might want to re-read the article, it was an easy thing to miss.

I love how wire fraud gets them up to 20 years, and acting as an agent for a foreign government only gets them up to 10. That totally makes sense.

DRC500free 2009-06-05 05:31:58 PM
"The affidavit quotes Kendall Myers as telling the undercover agent that he typically removed information from the State Department by memory or by taking notes -- although he did occasionally take some documents home -- and had delivered information that was classified "secret.""

Silly rabbit. Only Karl Rove gets to betray his country by divulging Secret-level information if he thinks it's useful.

A proper punishment:

Drop them off on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, and have them wear sandwich boards explaining what they did. Then look the other way.

Funny story:

Lucille Ball was a communist back when it wasn't cool - McCarthy hearings, etc...

Yet out of ALL the people in Hollywood who were investigated, she wasn't.

Why? America loved her SO much. The investigators couldn't touch her, even though she was more of a commie than most.

Wonder what secrets they delivered.

Dispatch 1: "Boy, Jimmy Carter really hates you guys. No expected change to sanctions."

Dispatch 202: "Wow, and I though Carter hated you guys. You should see the new guy! No expected change to sanctions."

Dispatch 317: "Told you not to invade Granada. But do you listen to me? Nooooooo. No expected change to sanctions."

etc.

Unless they're Israeli spies and then apparently *cough* Tats *cough* any punishment is too harsh.

Well, wire fraud can cost money, espionage may only get people killed. That sounds like a completely consistent position for the government to take ;

Well they are in their 70s - the penalty for treason might be a waste of time.

Well, to be fair, if convicted of espionage the federal government will provide them with chairs to sit in so that they don't have to stand in their old age.
