That made me smile. Up until the very end it doesn't even look like an ad - just a really well done Beatles animation with some stop motion goodness thrown in.

Very cool and gets very trippy.

ne2d [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 08:13:27 PM
Pretty cool. I was thinking it should have had the "Day in the Life" chord at the very end--it seems one of those instances where the obvious cliche is appropriate.

notmtwain [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 08:17:11 PM
Just what I've walrus wanted.

/// Cool graphics don't convince me that this will be interesting for more than 10 minutes though I suppose it's good that some kids will get a chance to hear the songs of the greatest band ever.

Think I'll go play the piano. Love some of the piano solos in Penny Lane (playing the english horn part).

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 08:28:15 PM
very cool - but just about every scene had the wrong music (paperback writer for ed sullivan, here comes the sun for sgt. pepper, etc.) still - this might actually get me to try rock band.

quickdraw [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 08:38:30 PM
Holy crap that was awesome.

jaundice_joplin 2009-06-05 09:28:13 PM
What about the Yoko level in the game? I'd rather be shot.

galactus5000 2009-06-05 09:28:21 PM
Everyone here knows that I am no fan of The Beatles or the god worship they get, but damn that was sweet.

Midnight Rambler 2009-06-05 09:30:11 PM
That was extremely cool.

The game will suck, how could it possibly be fun?

Warpigpen 2009-06-05 09:39:38 PM
"Smoke pot smoke pot everybody smoke pot..."

Very good looking animation...

Dr_J 2009-06-05 09:51:34 PM
Terrific stuff. That was a great reminder as to why these guys were the best ever.

It's a Beatles game, not a Rolling Stones game, so no songs from the greatest band ever will be heard.

cheaper, and will teach you how to actually play actual Beatles songs.

Gangway Fathead 2009-06-05 10:07:24 PM
That was a fantastic piece of animation - I would have liked to have seen them fall off the cliff and land on a rooftop, playing with no psychadelic accoutrements, but then I am a compleatist.

This one is better, has all the actually voicings and arrangements in tab, but in VERY small type.

Crazy mother even tabbed out "Revolution #9". No, of course it makes no sense, but he wanted to get them all!

Gee, nobody has EVER made that point about Guitar Hero/Rock Band before. How fresh and new. And is it really cheaper when you add in two guitars, a bass, 3 mics, all the amps, a pa system, and a drum kit?

I dont play Madden '09 and expect to start for the Cowboys

I have been playing guitar 30 years and I love GH and RB.

And yes I will buy this game but I fear it won't look as good on my Wii.

Staffist [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 10:25:31 PM
When I was much younger, I thought that a lyric that went something like: "...'Jaws' was never my scene and I don't like 'Star wars'..." should have also included something about Beatle hatin', 'cause I did.

/Freddy died too young
//Respects The Beatles

Isn't it fun being a living, breathing meme? I'm a fully-capable musician that plays Beatles' tunes for fun and others' enjoyment, and yet, somehow I still enjoy this video game. Probably for the same reason I like first-person-shooters: they're purpose-built to be fun.

Don't you shake your cane at me!

Why play a first person shooter? That won't help you go on killing sprees!

I mean, if you want to have fun, you gotta go kill people FOR REAL!!!

What. The. Hell!!

That was farking awesome!!! :D

I couldn't help but notice though, that the "I am the Walrus"/'Sitting in an English Garden' bit reminded me of this:

PerfectlyCromulent 2009-06-05 10:54:07 PM
This game is going to be great. I have to wonder how difficult/un-fun it'll be to do the vocal harmonies, though.

Also, if Helter Skelter isn't included, I'm gonna raise hell.

ass2mouth 2009-06-05 11:10:08 PM
That was awesome, The Beatles are still extremely boring however.

word. If you are into the Rose scores, check out Walter Everett's "The Beatles as Musicians." Its music theory porn for beatles nerds. I was fortunate to be at the University of Michigan School of Music while he was publishing the book. Very comprehensive, very interesting.

Well... really forward to the 2nd Part (new window), where Paul does "I've Got a Feelin" but I couldn't bring myself to link part 2 out of the blue :p

What would be really cool is after you complete songs and levels, you can interchange the locations and appearances. It would be badass to play Helter Skelter on the Ed Sullivan show.

Nope. The best 2:36 I saw all day was the last 3 1/2 miles before I pulled into my driveway after working all day.

//I know, I know...you were told there'd be no math.

The last 0:02 you'll see will be the truck who didn't realize you were moving faster than you should. The next 0:10 will be you staring at gore that was you only moments before. The following months will be you observing your closest friends and family quickly getting over you, then loosening up and talking about what a jerk you were. The following infinity will be you on fire and thirsty to the point of insanity, while at the same time almost drowning, while being pursued by people who want to kill you.

/:D

Good calls there. Also, if you want something to occupy your free time for about a week, check out Alan W. Pollack's notes. (new window) And I'm assuming of course you've read Revolution In The Head by Ian MacDonald - it's a required text for all Beatle scholars. :)
