'I kill that rap shiat, that's what I do,' Kanye tells MTV.

I wish someone would.

I have to go with Gay Fish on that one.

Fish sticks

He is either insane beyond comprehension, or a fantastic marketing genius...maybe both. It's sad, he used to make fun of the people he has turned into.. so much for that.

I read that as "Michael Jordan of raping"

TeddyRooseveltsMustache [TotalFark] 2009-06-04 05:32:14 PM
So does that mean he's going to quit, come back, QUIT AGAIN, come back, QUIT AGAIN, and then start his own label?

MaxxLarge [TotalFark] 2009-06-04 05:35:06 PM
So much for the whole "South Park humbled me" song and dance.

I really, really hope he shuts up and goes away soon.

TeddyRooseveltsMustache: So does that mean he's going to quit, come back, QUIT AGAIN, come back, QUIT AGAIN, and then start his own label?

Um, is his music any good? I only know about him from the Hurricane Katrina comment and nonsense like this.

Subsonicmonkey 2009-06-04 07:57:04 PM
What Kanye West is good at: producing hip-hop tracks, having severe ego issues.

What Kanye West is not good at: rapping.

FeedTheCollapse 2009-06-04 08:13:06 PM
Kiribub: Um, is his music any good?

he's good in that his competition is terrible. Otherwise his ego far outsizes his talent.

you know he compares to james brown
but only in that when i saw james brown on stage
he had this guy come out several times during the act to exclaim
JAMES BROWN! THE GREATEST HUMAN BEING EVER TO WALK THE EARTH!

it was very sad to see.

KANYE WEST is like james brown in his pathetic phase
without having actually produced an actual body of work

KANYE YOU ARE A NEVER-WAS,
NOT A HAS BEEN

DO YA GET IT?

you nevah was, dude!
it was all in yo mind!!!!!

You gotta hand it to the guy, he knows how to get his name on Fark.

Guess that South Park episode didn't actually make him "check" his ego...

What a gay fish....

i wouldn't even consider him a 'rapper'... and thats not just me hating on his musical ability. i honestly don't consider him performing in the genre of rap.

better than the shaq of rapping.

I'm pretty sure Chuck D is the Michael Jordan of rap.

Kanye is playing for a team in the European league.

Probably Spain.

meade2001 2009-06-04 11:16:05 PM
I think a Kanye-Oasis collaboration would make Fark asplode.

Seriously though, admire his music or not - he at least makes you pay attention to him, good or bad. Even if you hate him and/or rap, you know who he is, and in the end, that's the whole point, right? Meh.

Glitchwerks 2009-06-04 11:20:41 PM
You know, the Fark music tab is...well I don't know what it is. It certainly isn't interesting. There's like 4-5 headlines a day, and most of them are about the same 10 bands that everyone hates.

Why do I post here?

2and4: I'm pretty sure Chuck D is the Michael Jordan of rap.

That depends on what your definition of "Michael Jordan of" is.

I don't think Chuck D ever rose to the "living room" level Jordan has... the example is always, ask your parents. That's not saying he was not an untouchable rapper... I'm just not sure what you're measuring Jordan as.

ftfy

For the chicks...

miltonbabbitt 2009-06-04 11:28:28 PM
Unfortunately, despite his abundant talent, he's starting to sound more and more like the Terence Trent D'Arby of rap...

2.bp.blogspot.com

On another note, I recently suggested in a Fark thread that the word "amazing" is one of the most over used adjectives of the decade and is to this decade what "awesome" was to the 80's. Then I read the article and saw Kanye combining the worst of both worlds with his new word:

"awes-mazing".

/as they say - face, meet palm.

That's a weird metric...much more likely would be Jordan was the best at the game, hence the Chuck D comparison makes sense.

He's the Michael Jackson of rapping

Good point.

My definition of MJ is 'the best ever at his game'.

MJ clearly was. Kanye is not even in the ballpark.

As far as asking my parents, at my age (old but not too old)and especially my folk's age, if I asked them to name one rapper they would probably come up with MC Hammer. That is if they could even name one.

But arguing sports and music are two very different things. You can argue sports due to generally accepted performance metrics/stats.

Music is much too connected to emotion, soul, and a personal connection to even argue about.

Which, in retrospect, makes me talking shiat about Kanye a stupid thing to do.

/still don't like him

syrynxx [TotalFark] 2009-06-05 02:33:03 AM
That wigger's haircut is crooked. Higher on the left side (his right) that the right (his left). Plus he's wearing glasses that I realized looked dorky in freshman year of high school.

This man is tone deaf, as evidenced by his live performances, which sound just like anyone else's atonal karaoke. With AutoTune, what is he? Just a black Kevin Federline.

Thats giving him too much credit, hes more like a back up on the lithuanian team.

The fact that he sells albums proves how far black music has fallen, 15 years ago he would have been laughed at by sir mix alot.

KajakPro 2009-06-05 03:23:40 AM
I just watched how incredibly inarticulate he was on the whole lead up to the "George Bush doesn't care about black people" incident, and how intelligent Mike Myers is in comparison, and how he tries to not react to Kanye's initial stupidity, but the final bit he can't control his reaction.... comedy gold.

npt 2009-06-05 03:29:05 AM
Kanye West is maybe the best rapper ever.

Even his superficial raps are super-official.

innumerate 2009-06-05 04:26:25 AM
Tantrum: You gotta hand it to the guy, he knows how to get his name on Fark.

I think he takes the crown in that department with the Gallagher Bros. in 2nd and 3rd. Billy Corgan writes a poem about how much it sucks to be 4th.

jordan. good at basketball, not so good at baseball.

west. good at producing, not so good at being a rapper.

kanye's right. sorta.

And that's why it wasn't there. Rape is no fun if the victim is expecting it.

Um, we are talking about the baseball Jordan, right?

Because once every two weeks you get to spark up a conversation about electronic music in some form or fashion.

I look forward to at least that.

I have been trying to hunt down interesting music links and submit them, all have been denied so far.
