So is this the latest outdated sucktastic format that "audiophiles" are splooging themselves over? Are there $15,000 8 track players now?

Seriously, some things are best left in the past because they really DID suck rancid donkey scrotum.

i would just leave it in the car with the windows up and then that one part to that one song would drag and i just can't deal with that.

Are those 8-track players that look like plunger-detonators for dynamite coming back, too?

ThatOneChick 2009-06-03 11:30:31 PM
Everything that comes from Rockford sucks.

Check Radio Shack. That's where I got my latest 8-track a few years ago.

Ginger Lynn agrees.

...and I hope you're not disparaging The Symbol.

Looks like somebody has watched the film "So Wrong they're right" a few too many times.

I have lived in Rockford my whole life and our biggest claim to fame is Cheap Trick. They're alright, but after seeing them live 20+ times and hearing about them all the time it gets a bit dull. Rick is super cool every time I talk to him, BTW.

//not necessarily proud

No love for Pocket Rockers? I'm calling for a boycott.

DoomDoomDoom 2009-06-04 03:35:33 AM
8-track? What do they expect to do, sell 20?

Also, I hate Rockford so bad. I was walking by the Orton Keyes housing project to Wing Ding this year, and two black dudes sucker punched me out of nowhere. They punched like pussies, then fled when an undercover squeeled around and drove up on the grass.

/And getting laid-off
//Potholes are still horrible
///And no 7-Eleven

I think anyone who looks at this as anything but a fun novelty throwback to the 70s is kinda missing the point. It's silly and yeah even goofy, hence, perfect for Cheap Trick.

Bitter?

Albums and record players never completely died, and huge record collections kept the players necessary.

Old albums do in fact sound better than modern recordings in many cases, but it is because of analog recording techniques and mixing styles that are no longer used. It's not the medium.

8-tracks just sucked. Worst of everything.

PopFreshenmeyer 2009-06-04 06:25:05 AM
I'm just surprised they found somebody who's still capable of making 8-tracks.

/don't have an 8-track player, but look forward to having the vinyl.

TiltedKilt 2009-06-04 06:45:34 AM
I'm waiting for the 45.

The Onanist [TotalFark] 2009-06-04 10:30:45 AM
Rockford DOES have one of the largest WW2 Living History weekends in the nation each year at the end of September.

/And the sock monkey museum.
//Just saying.

Why all the Rockford hate? It's better than Freeport.

I'm holding out for the wax cylinder.

JK8Fan 2009-06-04 12:30:56 PM
I'll probably order it on 8-track for the hell of it. I have an old 8-track stored in the basement. May get it out and give her a go.

C'mon, are they really bigger than soft tipped (english mark) darts?

Devolving_Spud 2009-06-04 01:35:40 PM
I only do 78's. 33-1/3 and 45 is only for audiophile wannabe's. 78 rpm is where it's at.

///trolling only, but i think the 8-track thing is cool

Jedekai 2009-06-04 05:19:07 PM
THAT IS AWESOME!

/Emo = Cheap Trick with less talent. Not trolling - seriously believe that.

I was thinking the same thing - there's no way a mass-producing 8-track facility still exists... is there?? I wonder if you just get a "replica" of an 8-track, and then a CD or something.

the $30.00 price tag leads me to believe that it may not be "mass-produced", relatively speaking. I'd be pretty surprised if they made more than a few hundred copies, or if there's more than five places on the planet that could pump 'em out. but surely someone, somewhere still can. but then again, I'm talking out of my ass.

That's a pretty cheap trick

Naw, you can pick one up at the flea markets around here for about 10 bucks.

Bad Dad Why 2009-06-05 08:43:35 AM
A lot of clasic cars have 8 tracks and they want to stay with it.
I see sales in the dozens.

in a landscape 2009-06-05 01:21:09 PM
Why don't they just give us the magnetic-tape masters??
