That is sad. But there are only two certainties in life, death and taxes. And this lady was old...

And, as a spelling/grammar nazi: there's no u in iceberg

FTA: Millvina Dean was nine weeks old when the liner sank after hitting an iceberg... Miss Dean, who remembered nothing of the fateful journey...

Really? A whole nine weeks old and wasn't able to remember the trip?

Bah, she was nine weeks old when it happened. That's like the Andrea Doria chick on Seinfeld.

Actually taxes is not a certainty. If you are a one day old baby and you die I am pretty sure you are not paying taxes. I am not trying to be snarky. It is just that this saying always pisses me off by being overused and incorrect.

I wonder if she ever refused to give a BJ with the classic line: 'I'd rather go down on the Titanic.'

You'd think something that tragic and historic would be easy to remember. Could the biatch remember her own phone number?

You would be right if that one day old baby was the speaker in this saying. Since he is not, it is probably likely that he experienced taxation. Or, if you really want to stretch it, there will certainly be some sort of governmental fees levied on the hospital stay for the birth. So even then... taxes...

Despite having no memories of the disaster, she always said it had shaped her life, because she should have grown up in the US instead of returning to the UK.

She was fond of saying: "If it hadn't been for the ship going down, I'd be an American."

In 1985 the site of the wreck was discovered and, in her 70s, she found herself unexpectedly in demand on both sides of the Atlantic.

"I think sometimes they look on me as if I am the Titanic!" she said after a visit to a Titanic convention in America. "Honestly, some of them are quite weird about it."

The old dame had moxy. Gotta give her that.

I went to school with a kid whose great grandmother was a Titanic survivor. She was 25 and the only member on the ship from her hometown to survive.

If your parents named you Elizabeth, with all it's myriad nicknames, why on earth would you end up using your second middle name, Millvina?

after this FTFA:

"I think sometimes they look on me as if I am the Titanic!" she said after a visit to a Titanic convention in America. "Honestly, some of them are quite weird about it."

Unimpressed

But she never tired of telling her story.

That picture of her is dying (heh) to be captioned with the word unimpressed.
