As someone who lives in a resort town full time I would like to thank whoever came up with the idea of staycation or moviecation or whatever you want to call it. Yeah, the quantity is down...BUT, the quality of our Summer visitors seems to be WAY up.

Damn, are movies really that expensive? I can go today for $7 a piece. Add in the $15 two drinks and a large popocorn and I'm out of there for under thirty bucks for two people. That's a hell of a lot cheaper than a usual date.

And while I love my Netflix, it simply isn't the same as being in the theater. We have an adult section of screens where you have to be 21 to get in, so none of that annoying nonsense from the crowd. Plus there is a full bar.

No, no, it's true, he's just at the wrong theatre. Live theatre is a completely different sort of experience to a movie. People are slightly better behaved, and, yes, there's an experience there.

In between silent lunches and "heavy drugging time" in the schools, do they teach audience manners anymore? I remember being briefed to go on field trips to see symphonies and other live events in elementary school. This occurred a few days before the event, you behaved yourself because there wasn't any other option.

Debating going to see Up in 3-D. It seems like a good idea, but between the price, the audience, and the underlying feeling that I don't know if it will be money well spent, I want to wait for the flat version on DVD.

Yeah, people gripe on Fark about how the movie theatre is so crowded and whatnot, but just go during the week. Why see a movie on Saturday night anyways? There's so much else to do on a weekend that it's way way down on my list... but then, a weekend night off is a serious rarity for me. If I get one I'm going to see live music or theatre damn it. Or a ballgame.
