The problem isn't that kids occasionally hug. The problem is they hug each and every one of their friends between each and every class, clogging the hallways and making themselves and others late for class.

And yes, we've occasionally had parents complain that their daughter was groped during a hug-a-thon. In a perfect world, we would be able to identify and correct groping, and leave the rest of the kids alone. Try doing that when 175 kids pass down a single hallway between classes, and half of them are hugging.

It's easier to just prohibit hugging altogether.
