GOP, a little advice, not everything Obama does is the end of the world. Once in awhile, read a story about Obama and go "ya, we don't need to comment on that".

Seriously. If you could go six months... hell, six weeks without gibbering madly every time he so much as coughs, it'd go a long way toward people being able to take you semi-seriously again.

Repubs: Oh look at you playing politics over trivial matters.

Repubs: Obama is horrible for eating a cheeseburger and going to a show while our country is in crisis!

What bugs me is that so many pay attention to either political side instead of the real two sides - the people vs. politicians.

Doesn't matter what Obama does for relaxation - it's what he and most of the other politicians are doing to the country that's the crime.

Just as a note, Democrats didn't object to Bush taking an occasional vacation. They objected to him spending a full third of his presidency either at Camp David or at Crawford.

It's not quite the same thing, ya know?

A month off every 3 months = 3 minutes to eat a cheeseburger? Or one night with the wife? Do you not see a difference?

The fundamental difference here: Obama went out for a couple hours to grab a burger, and for the evening to see a play. Bush spent A QUARTER OF HIS F*CKING PRESIDENCY clearing brush, a record for any sitting president. Ever. Including the guy that did four terms.

I love false equivalencies.

Can't you just picture the GOP as a group of catty high school cheerleaders poping their gum and saying "oh... my...god" because the lower class girl who wears glasses got asked out by the captain of the football team?

Jimmy Devil Rocket Science 2009-05-31 08:47:45 AM
I can remember a time when I thought the GOP were evil geniuses. Even if you hated them, you at least had to respect the fact that they could win an election by hook or crook.

It's difficult to reconcile that with the way they behave now. It's as if someone had given Satan, Prince of Darkness, a lobotomy and then got him shiat-faced and sent him off to write talking points.

I'm not saying the "sins" are equivalent, I'm saying the attack playbook is the same. It's all a goddamn puppet show put on for our amusement, so we don't look behind the curtain.

The libs shouldn't be the ones upset about this demonstration of outrage, real conservatives should be pissed that they are once again being made to look like idiots by those who speak loudly on their behalf.

For the libs this is a non issue, people can scream all they want but they can't do anything else. So f*ck em.

Give the dude a chance... it only cost a couple of hundred thousand of American Tax payer dollars for him to fly his wife to Broadway.

He just closed a deal on a killer car company that he is going to turn around and then everyone is going to want a GM.

Ties suck. Women have it worse clothing-wise, but ties are the worst invention in male fashion ever. WTF is the point of a tie? To hide buttons? Extra Napkin?

"As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan's theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills," the GOP said. "Have a great Saturday evening -- even if you're not jetting off somewhere at taxpayer expense."

I think this is a pretty good lesson in, believe it or not, political posturing. Notice how Gail Gitcho mentions only that Obama is taking "Air Force One?" The reason is Gitcho probably already knows that the actual plane they are taking to New York is a G-3, a smallish Cessna-type plane.

However, as the President occupies that plane it's call-sign automatically switches to, that's right, Air Force One.

This way Gitcho still gets to fan the retard neo-con flames while being able to couch her response as the truth, which it is. Obama is taking Air Force One to New York. It's just not the Air Force One that people think.

It's a pretty smart move, actually. It probably gets people off of how the GOP and their Friends at Fox ran with Turdblossom's complete lie about Sotomayor serving on the same court as Alito.

RandomExcess 2009-05-31 09:10:46 AM

Bull f*cking sh*t. This 'attack playbook' idea you have isn't rooted in any sort of reality. There are reasonable criticisms of Presidents, and there are unreasonable criticisms. Each person can decide whether Obama's night out or Bush's months off are bad for their respective Presidencies.

But any kind of 'deeper' insight about 'puppet shows' and 'looking behind a curtain' simply reeks of 3rd party paranoid bullsh*t.
