So....he's going to be sentenced to listen to Aphex Twin?

notmtwain [TotalFark] 2009-05-29 08:30:34 AM
He's guilty and should be punished but I will always feel grateful for his contributions to music.

notmtwain: He's guilty and should be punished but I will always feel grateful for his contributions to music.

It's strange. He killed someone, yet he also made "Be My Baby".

Will they make him do something with his hair in prison?

He doesn't get to take his wigs. Shame, because Bubba won't have anything to grab onto.

the crystals "and then he kissed me" is the best example of a classic specter recording. also tina turner's "river deep".

So you're saying we should give him a pass?

I could get behind that movement.

I think Elton John, well, Bernie Taupin said it best:
Hey kids, shake it loose together
The spotlight's hitting something
That's been known to change the weather
We'll kill the fatted calf tonight
So stick around
You're gonna hear electric music
Solid walls of sound

..."the judge's only choice will be whether to tack on three, four or 10 additional years..."
The man is 69 years old. He's going to die in prison, but make sure to add more years to his sentence.

In the 60s, Specor was responsible for creating the "Wall of Sound."^

LGT wiki article I don't have time to summarize, as I'm leaving for work. Stupid work.

Barnstormer 2009-05-29 09:53:49 AM
Looking at his discography it seems that John and George liked his stuff enough to keeping using him into the early 70's. I agree that the strings on Let It Be truly do suck, but the other production values aren't that bad.

and oh yeah, +1 on the headline. He'll be hearing Be My Baby for a while, and the he'll find out A Man Is a Man is a Man...

FTA: Phil Spector, 69, convicted of second-degree murder in the 2003 shooting of actress Lana Clarkson, 40, faces at least 15 years in state prison.

Couldn't it have been Kelly Clarkson instead?

/I order you to break out of jail, Spector.

I always get a kick reading the Farkers silly ideas of what prison life is like. They think it's all rape, rape, rape. Good heavens, look at the time!
But either way, Spector will be fine - he is rich, and there are a myriad of ways that a wealthy man can use his wealth in prison. By the time he has been there a month, I would hate to be the dumb motherfarker who is foolish enough to mess with him. He may be a wimp - but before long, he will have bought himself some friends who most ASSUREDLY aren't.

yellow_shark 2009-05-29 11:08:47 AM
He deserved some jail time for "End of the Century"...

Vern 2009-05-29 11:08:59 AM
The man has been convicted of murder, with numerous people who have had him pull a gun on them before this incident who weren't allowed to testify. The man should get life, despite his contributions to music. He pulled a crossbow on Leonard Cohen. You don't pull a crossbow on anyone, let alone Leonard Cohen. Also, you don't jam a gun into someone's mouth and pull the trigger, no matter how wasted you are.
