its once again good to know that all americans think about are themselves..
yes its a telling map , when you see the little dots where these supposed Dead American Heroes came from.

I'd be if the author actually cared enough for humanity, the map would have been of Afghanistan, or Iraq, Or Israel and the occupied territories....

but as we all know very well to an American, an American life is worth 10,000 black/ brown /or colored life.

So why show how many have died in Iraq due to bombs dropped on them? Lets show how good and heroic our soldiers are because they died for a cause, a just cause:

Saddam's link to Bin Laden
Saddam's Link to building a Nuke by purchasing Yellow cake.
Saddam's Link to the Anthrax attacks
Saddam's Link to WMD's.

That being said; may those men and women whom have lost their lives for our country regardless of the justification for the conflict, be remembered as heroes.

they have the casualty information online and you can map it on google map just like this guy did.

I did a map of the us forces killed for a statistics project back in 2003 (when there were a few hundred dead) and there was a huge correlation between urban cities and dead soldiers. now that the war has gone on so long, i think that correlation is less true.

true, if we did think more of ourselves, there would be a lot fewer getting thrown into the big sandbox on foreign policy adventures-- of course then we'd be slammed for all of the folks gettin' killed because we're not playing actively enough the role of the world's policeman.

Ya those damn white christians always killing the brown peoples. Like when we bombed christian Serbians to save muslim Albanians trying to break Kosovo away from Serbia illegally. Or when muslim Turks ethnically cleansed or murdered Greeks and Armenians from Smyrna, Constantinople, Kars, and other areas. Or the occupation of Cyprus. Everything is so one sided in favor of the darn christian white peoples!!

Some of you guys are absolutely pathetic.

The first thing you think of when viewing the result of a lot of intense work and diligence to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country is, "Zomg, how can I turn this political/make conservatives look bad?!?"

There are plenty of times for that, but on memorial day weekend, just appreciate the sacrifices of those brave men and women who died for this country and fought to preserve its freedoms, in past and present conflicts.

THIS.

It is thier duty and obligation by contract through volunteering to act as directed by their commander(s). While there are situations of 'questionable legality' in the orders themselves, this is not the soldiers' choice to make. Honor them for they would have died had their orders fit your interpretation of just and reasonable cause or not.

We are not honoring the war or war-makers, we are honoring those who served and died in that service.

This sounds a little bit more accurate. I don't know when the shift occurred but Memorial Day stopped being about remembering the fallen and is now seen as "The beginning of Summer"
