My favorite part of stories like this is watching TV newscasters visibly struggle to hide their disappointment when saying, "Thankfully, no one was hurt."

Saw him on Top Gear... definitely a politician in every sense of the word.

Lord Adonis?

(Checks biography)

Hmm... apparently I do have the body of Adonis.

Douchbag truck driver. I cycle and youll always get some asshole trying to squeeze past to gain that extra second which they lose at the lights as you sail up the median. And it was a farking huge truck on a tight 2 lane road with parked cars covering half of his lane. Looks like he gunned it over the speed bump to keep momentum up to squeeze the cyclists out, which jogged the back open. It was a good thing he hit the car really cos he would have probably killed a pedestrian walking the pavement like that otherwise, look how much inertia the truck is carrying, it tossed the mondeo around like a toy and thats not a small car. I hope they get him for dangerous driving for that stunt and failing to secure his load (or whatever it is)

London is no good for cyclists. My own view is that its roadways should be rebuilt to accommodate them, not with stupid little 'cycle lanes' but with properly maintained paths.

And the cyclists should pay for it, of course.

Still better than the alternative, which was a snide lower-class wanker.

In England, this is a crashing truck.

If it happened in the US it would be 'ZOMG a turrist almost killed our Leader!' followed by arrests, mothers keeping children home from schools and national debate about a 'truck control' law.

Jetpacks and flying cars would solve this problem. It's the 21st century and all the jetpack money is going to clean some MP's moat.

My personal favourite commuting system would be to have a very large catapult in Croydon. This would fling workers towards a huge net placed above St. Paul's Cathedral.

You should use that to fling politicians into the Thames, instead.

Make sure to tie a bag of bricks to them before doing so.

If there's one thing England ISN'T known for, it's creating superfluous laws, that's for sure.

To be fair, in this case he hit a bump, breaking his cargo doors loose, which caught a vehicle and pulled it into the cyclists. Probably had no idea what was going on until he felt the resistance of the car he was pulling. Not sure "douchebag truck driver applies here"

The open doors would have swept down cyclists on both sides of the street while he plowed though the middlle!

I hate that car.

Put Bloomberg on a bike and have him ride around NYC; see how many trucks have "accidents" on or near him.

Isn't that a waste of a rather useful building material? Can't we just use large rocks picked off a riverbank? I'd just hate to see bricks wasted like that.

Better than douche bag cyclists who think they don't have to stop at lights.

Master Chief 2009-05-24 10:04:46 PM
Who said i didnt stop at lights. I just get tot he front of the pack first.

And as a rule, depending on cirumstances you dont helpfully ride single file on the side of the road just begging for douchbag drivers to try and squeeze past you and end up mashing you. If im in a situation like that i certainly will ride in the center of the lane so that you cant try it on untill the road is truley clear and you can overtake via the oncoming lane. To all you ITG motorists here, i wish you 20 miles stuck behind a cyclist on your way home from work next.
