Yesterday I opined that American Culture, in its obsession with celebrity, had pulled up all the boards at the bottom of the barrel and was now digging beneath. Looks like these losers were living down there all the time.

And here I thought "profound idiot" was at the very bottom of the IQ scale.

Billboard space is currently being hunted in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Sacramento, San Francisco, New York-New Jersey, Des Moines, Seattle and other metro areas.

Des Moines? Des-farking-Moines! Yeah, that will bring attention to everyone.

More than $35,000 has been raised in the first 72 hours of the national billboard campaign - and the first sign, an electronic one, is already up and online.

we're staring down the barrel of the biggest economic collapse since the Great Depression and these bozos are spending $35k on billboards.

ditch the billboards and fund a couple more soup kitchens. I think you'll get more traction that way.

I like Obama... but i was concerned

When it came out that he "accidentally" used the photoshop certificate i was expecting he would release his official one to the media...

(he didnt)

Then when Drudge started throwing around reports from his grandmother that he was born in Kenya, i was really concerned and thought that we would see some type of documentation

(we didnt)

Finally, when Rush Limbaugh accused him of murdering his Grandmother days after the election, i thought FOR SURE we would see some type of blow back to this story...

(no one did)

Now i just dont care, we have a Kenyan as president... good for him

JohnnyC 2009-05-23 01:56:58 PM
I was thinking they should just have paid me $40,000 to explain to them how stupid, pointless, and futile their plan is. Also I would make sure to let them know that their antics are in no way making America a better place, it is helping only the billboard owner's life.

Which... in a way could sorta help the economy and in some small way, the country. That billboard company owner... or owners, for that matter, do have lives and spend that money back into the economy to a certain degree (most likely locally too)... hell taxes are paid on that money as well. So... in the end, I guess they are helping the economy and society, but not in the way they think.

In fact... I think that's the silver lining to an otherwise sad story of more stupid people living and breathing away in America. You know... if we're going to have a "War on Something", maybe it should be a War on Stupidity. We could start with these folks... change the world. Have nice things.

Gotta go along with this. If these assbananas truly cared about their country, they would show people how to grow some food, teach some budgeting classes. I dunno... something of use.

It's not really stupidity if you think about it fairly. Ever seen a video of someone falling from a great height ? Notice they tend to flail their arms like this is going to help somehow ?

Desperation in the face of having no options is something to pity, not mock.

they could find people who got run over by this economy and help them get their families fed or their kids to a dentist. something along those lines. ANYTHING along those lines.

Or, y'know, we could put up more billboards. i'm sure that'll really convince people how much they care about this country.

Let's publicize *their* birth certificates. Their social security cards, as well, just to make sure.

Wait, what? That's private information? Oh, no Sirree, Bob! If you want him to share his private information, then you have to share yours. It's only fair.

First of all, having to be born in this country to be POTUS is a stupid ass law and needs to be repealed but right now, it is the law so it has to be obeyed.

Having said that, if this is the best they can come up with so far I think Obama's doing a fairly decent job. At least the number of countries he's invaded for no reason is still set at zero.

And if we're so sure the WMDs went to Syria, why aren't we in Syria?

Fabric_Man 2009-05-23 02:24:45 PM
How much you want to bet this billboard isn't going up?
Or that it was never going to go up?
Or that a whole bunch of wingbats just got scammed?

Bloody William 2009-05-23 02:24:58 PM
I find this hilarious because just "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE" without any branding or additional information will probably have most drivers going, "Huh. Um, maybe it's some identity theft company."

Anyway, I don't feel like digging up the entirety of what I said before, so here's the abridged version:

Hawaii statute 338:18 makes it illegal to allow inspection of a birth certificate to anyone without a direct, tangible interest in inspecting it (and that interest is defined in a list of criteria that "the people" don't remotely fit).

The Certificate of Live Birth is prima facie evidence of Obama's birth. That means that unless there is actual evidence that brings his citizenship into question (not rumor and hearsay), is holds up as proof, legally.

The director of the Hawaii Department of Health has inspected the birth certificate and issued a statement affirming this fact.

That's it.

erveek 2009-05-23 02:26:44 PM
I love how they put the blank space at the bottom so people can add amusing graffiti.

Very thoughtful of them.

Lawnchair 2009-05-23 02:29:45 PM
I still hold that there is some 20-something intern in Axelrod's office. Tweaking the nutcases, in particular the nutty birth certificate story, has been his little side-project. Because it makes the entire right wing look absolutely unhinged, but if the semi-reasonable Republicans biatch-slapped the WND crazies, they'd only further the civil war in the GOP and lose some of the few reliable votes they have.

Oh, yeah. $1 million in 96 hours.

Zasteva: Here is the birth certificate:

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

That's kind of dated, but it still stands.

The fact remains:

338:18 means Obama cannot share his original birth certificate. It is illegal under Hawaiian law.

The COLB works as evidence that he is a natural born citizen, unless some actual compelling evidence to call it into question is raised.

The Hawaii director of the Department of Health has personally inspected the birth certificate and has confirmed its existence and validity.

I don't think the jaunty way the reverse type does NOT line up with the background was on purpose.
