I am a "troop", and I also support harsh interrogations and the invasion of Iraq on the grounds that Saddam Hussein needed to be removed from power (although I think that the way it was done was...ludicrous). But I know the difference between "supporting the troops" and "supporting unnecessary militaristic policies."

The idea that something is pro-militarist or anti-militarist has nothing to do with liking or disliking the troops. It is an opinion on policy. Making "whether or not you like what the troops or doing" the qualifier for "whether or not you support or subvert the troops" is absurd.
