(YouTube) Cool You've probably heard the first minute or so of this song, so here's the full version: Angela (Theme from Taxi), by Bob James, live in 1985 at The Montreux Jazz Fest   (youtube.com) divider line 26

Ha, I thought my headphones were broken -- looks like the copyright gnomes came and stole the audio :(

I had a rapper request that I make a hip-hop beat for him using this song as my sample material. It turned out really nice...one of my slower beats, but smooth as all hell and with a lot of feeling to it.

Bob James is a hip-hop beat-maker's best friend (new window).

Just look at that list.

I feel like I'm on the world's longest elevator ride listening to that crap.

Why would this song be played at a jazz fest?

Ever notice the film of the taxi going over the bridge is looped 3 times to fit the music?

Speaking of songs most people have only heard the first minute of, I always found it weird the single version of the Friends theme song was in a different key to the Friends one. Also never realised the Charmed theme had a full version until it was used in The Craft (the people who compile sound tracks really lack originality sometimes).

Well, it is kind of a jazz piece.

Also, it's the freaking Montreaux Jazz Festival. Over the years, it's become a pretty open forum. Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Cash - they all played at Montreaux at one point.

ugh... using that garbage mid-80's synth with a rhodes sound when there's a PERFECTLY GOOD Mark I suitcase sitting underneath it. Someone explain the 80s to me again?

It's good, but it's no Barney Miller.

i've always loved that main title theme from "taxi"... it always sounded SO late 70's jazz/pop... good ol' electric piano... flute, etc. etc.

JacFlash 2009-05-22 10:01:30 AM
Always loved the chord progression on the Rhodes right in the beginning when the keys take over the melody (:22) so tasty.....

That just might be the most depressing song I've ever heard. I don't know why, but whenver the reruns came on when I was a kid, I ran for the remote. I must have thaought I'd turn into Judd Hersch if I ever listened to the whole thing.

Congrats, you win the Elitist Bastard of Music award for this thread.

Geesus, I don't think I have ever heard the Yahama DX-7 called a "garbage mid-80s synth."
