This is why you should use an insured carrier to transport them, and receive them at your destination. Or keep them on you. You shouldn't be handing anyone else $10k+ of jewelry and biatching that you didn't get it back.

Yes, it'd be nice if they monitored their employees better, but don't expect that.

Still, about 465 TSA screeners nationwide were fired for theft between May 2003 and early October 2008, Koshetz said.

Better than nothing I suppose but I wonder what fraction of total thefts in that 5 year period the 465 whom were caught represents. Probably less than 15%.

This guy "accidentally" packed $12K worth of jewelry in his checked luggage...

Right.

Hooked_on_Fark [TotalFark] 2009-05-17 05:32:31 PM
I had a bag "delayed" on a flight last week. When I called the airline to check on its status, the first choice stated "if your bag has been delayed more than 25 days, press 1". Made me feel good about the situation.

Fortunately the bag showed up the next day. I could have lived if it was lost, the most valuable items were some shirts that had logos embroidered on them.

Who the fark travels with 12K of jewelry and forgets which bag it's in? If I had that much bling with me there is no way in hell I'd accidentally put in in checked baggage.

This just in,

the TSA is staffed by a pack of illiterate, fat, thieving cocksuckers who couldn't make the grade as security guards or mall cops and they steal everything that isn't nailed down because they are, essentially, criminals with name tags who aren't even smart enough to steal without government protection.

Yeah, because we should always cheer for pissbag thieves who take advantage of others and laugh at their victims lack of foresight, cause that's so cool when some sh*tstain on society gets rich at others expense.

Woo.

Victims are TARDS, man!

I'm not sure you have to be bigoted, just awake, to see they are obviously filling quotas w/ many of their employee hirings, this isn't exactly a secret or unique to that agency, what rock have you been under? Or in the interest of pretending these sort of things don't happen, are you just being deliberately obtuse?

did not read the article carefully, but sometimes the gate agents make you check stuff you are carrying on.

last month i indeed accidently checked in my rather expensive camera and gear. i did not do it unaware, but they would simply not let me bring my bag on because the airplane was switched for a smaller one, and my 20 in carry-on was deemed too big for that leg....

of course, he could be a dumb ass

He specifically mentioned his ring and necklace. I don't consider watches to be jewelry. And yes, I'm well aware of how much high-end watches cost.

How exactly does my opinion make me a freeper?

Not in the back at the loading area where they steal your belongings. They don't steal them up front, where the "terr'ist!" cams are.

Even if they did, what do you think the odds are of having them release the video?

Ah, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Fark the TSA. Last time I flew I went with Mr. Chick and the 5 year old. At the security checkpoint my son set off the metal detector. So he gets pulled off to the side for a wand. Only thing is, they wouldn't let my husband or me through the metal detector to be there with him until he was done. He was literally on the verge of throwing up because he was crying so hard from being scared out of his mind, and we just had to stand there and watch. Then they wanted Mr. Chick to boot up his laptop and let them peruse his files, you know, just to be sure he's not a terrorist.

The icing on the cake was when we finally got to our destination I open my suitcase and there's that wonderful little "Hey, we rifled through you things and fingered your underwear and played with your bras just to make sure you're not a terrorist" card. Farkwads. I'm never flying again.

biglot 2009-05-17 08:06:55 PM
We've been doing everything backwards.

We pay for stuff upfront and then have to chase the bastards when something goes wrong, gets lost, or stops working.

I propose we pay for stuff AFTER we've used it, AND it proves satisfactory.

So, in the case of airline travel, for example, this would mean arriving at the destination in one piece, with luggage intact.

Then, and only then, would we whip out the plastic.

Well... Sort of THIS.

But Sam Hodges is royalty in the retard department. I wouldn't ever respect a family member again that "checked" $12k worth of anything.

In fact, they'd even be deleted from my summer BBQ list.
