They recently made it legal in Texas to shoot wild hogs from the air. I'll bet that with an L29 you could pile up bacon by the slab.

I think those aircraft in the picture are Tornados, but they sure aren't L29's.

And they're actually Czech, not Russian, though it was used throughout the Soviet bloc, including by the USSR.

Additional little trivia tidbit: these things are still in active service in third-rate air forces, and Russia claims to have destroyed two of them in their recent war with Georgia.

We could throw in $100 each, too, and buy enough property in detroit to build a Fark Air Park!

I have this same problem going to arcade auctions.
One Asteroids Deluxe, Cocktail Galaxian, 6 arcade monitors and an Addams Family Values redemption game later, I think $40 worth is enough for now.
But that might be because I just had bacon.

The kick ass thing is you can make a shiatload of bacon sandwiches, take the drippings and turn them into bio-fuel and the engine will take it with little or no modification.

So he came out ahead on the deal?

I don't think it was a good idea to assemble the airplane on the front lawn. A L29 Delfin fighter is more of a back yard project. Now the neighbors will escalate.

The diet Coke with bacon picture reminds me that sometimes I order the veggie burger and have bacon and cheese on it so that it will taste like something. What the Hey? I'm not doing it for my health, but if I were, the tofu pretty much cancels out the toppings.

Actually, the guy says: "When I got there I grabbed the sandwich just as the bidding was starting. I was instantly smitten so before the hammer went down, impulse took over and I threw my hand up. My heart was thumping and adrenaline racing. It was a real thrill."

What's not entirely clear is what gave him the thrill. Was it the bacon sandwich, or was it buying the plane?

Wow.

Bacon and military aircraft thread. Is there anything fark can't do?

JustGetItRight 2009-05-17 10:12:43 PM
Yep, Jaguars.

A Jaguar can loosely be considered a figher jet. It's supersonic, can carry heat-seeking missiles, has guns, and some versions have radar. It's really an attack aircraft but in a pinch it could serve as a figher.

An L29 is unarmed. Even if it had a gun, it is also quite slow by jet standards and wouldn't see 500 mph downhill in a hurricane. A late war Spitfire, Mustang, Corsair, Thunderbolt. or FW190 would eat its lunch.

Obnox [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-05-17 10:14:40 PM
