Came for the "my daughter is only 12 and she thinks the Boss is waay cooler than Eminem" post from rationalizing 40-something NJ mommies who sound fat, and old.

Disappointed.

You're complaining about rationalizing 40-somethings from NJ, and yet you pick Eminem as representative of what all the cool 12 year olds are listening to in 2009?

i never saw the attraction of springsteen, but the existence of large followings for a lot of bands that i think really suck just shows that there's no accounting for taste, even mine.

When O'Riley went after Pete Seeger (and Springsteen or being there) I just about chucked a glass at my TV. Pete's 90 years old, he was blacklisted by our government, let the man have some peace.

A reasonable post after my own sentiments! There are a few genres of music I do not like (happen to enjoy Springsteen, though), but I find it ridiculous to say one genre sucks because one doesn't like it. Someone out there does like it, and that music is for that person(s). To each their own, I say.

I never understood the hatred for Born in the USA. Yes, ok, after The River he changed his image and started wearing more muscle shirts, and the sound changed a bit, but not that much. The title tracks of both albums tell the same story - of America not turning out to be quite as awesome as it was supposed to be, and the harsh realities adulthood, working class life etc. And it fits in with My Hometown, No Surrender, and bunch of other stuff off the album.

Unrelated, but I think it's hilarious when GOP politicians use Born in the USA as a patriotic anthem and think it has the same message as God Bless the USA.

At the State College concert about a week ago, there were a lot of really little kids & families. He even pulled a girl about 8-10 yrs old up on stage to sing "Waiting On A Sunny Day."

The woman sitting by my husband said, "Look at all the old folks here." I said, "Lady, the old folks are the ones putting on the show." She never got off her cell all night & the guy in front of us kept checking sports scores.

Kids today

*shake fist*

And he's still a pinko agitator who will sing the "private property" verse. He must be stopped!

Excuse me? What do you think I am? I do know the things people say in the United States of America. I was not Born in the United States of America but I know. I say Born in the United States of America as the joke because Born in the United States of America is the song by Mr. Springsteens.

I think U2's "One" gives it a run for its money, I facepalm every time I hear it at a wedding for instance.

And I outright giggle everytime I hear "Independence Day"- a song about a woman who murders her abusive dickwad husband by burning a house down around him- as the opening of Sean Hannity's show (especially because said abusive dickwads are one of his key demographics)
