I'd like to say I'm done with sleazy, white-boy fapping, but I can't keep that vow.

I graduated from high school in '03, so I basically grew up listening to Eminem.

With that said, holy cow does his new CD (or whatever the heck they're calling mp3 albums now) blow donkey balls.

He went from being one of the best song writers of all time to pop-hop in four years.

Why are there so many articles about him recently? Is he promoting something?

The rapper also revealed 'Circle of Life' singer Sir Elton John has been helping him in his battle to overcome drug addiction, and teh straight.

Don't think that's the only thing Elton John is helping him with. Give him a year and he'll be rapping his way out of the closet.

"I think that my videos are little time capsules. So I've always wanted people to be able to look back at each video and go, 'Oh, remember what was going on at that moment! That's when Jessica Simpson got fat.'"

Thank you, Emsers. Thank you for helping keep the history of America alive with your "time capsules." Think of all that we'd miss, we'd forget, we would fail to HONOR...if not for your video-length moments of cinema verité. I mean, where would we be, as a society, without such artists capturing these moments in our lives? What we take for granted as we wander from moment to moment through time, it astounds me. Lest we EVER forget, dear world, the moment when Jessica Simpson gained fifteen pounds.

THINK about that, people. THINK about that before you throw away our legacy as citizens of the world.

I have mad respect for him. His new CD is nowhere near the caliber of the first three, but there are several FARKING GREAT tracks that make me happy that EM is back.

I liked the Marshall Mathers LP. He seems to save all his good songs for mixtapes, then release shiat albums. Just listened to relapse. Disappointed.

ColdenHaufield 2009-05-17 09:50:31 PM
Ok. PSA.

If you think Em was a really good rapper who has fallen off, that basically means your taste doesn't suck as much as it used to. Slightly.

He has always been the wackness. He had OK rhymes, but I was only really a fan when I was 16 (ten years ago) and actually thought he was freestyling during some of his battles (not the case). His voice is annoying, his subject matter is repetitive, his controversial raps about pop stars doesn't offend anyone, and 8Mile was a joke.

For rappers who make good albums, listen to aesopROCK, EL-P, Doom.

For rapper who are funny and battle well, check out The Sauraus, DumbFoundDead, NocanDo and the like.

Eminem's new shiat SUCKS! Oh and there are plenty of good white rappers. Eyedea, Jedi Mind Tricks, Aesop, Atmosphere, The Grouch, and countless others. We've came a long way since Vanilla Ice.

Some people remember him as Zev Love X.

His flow might not be remarkable, but his swagger is what makes him. You, however, are a herb, who knows more about hip hop than most laymen, but not as much as real fans. Stop reading the latest record reviews in Vice magazine.

Furthermore, from your Myspace (heh) page, you like...

Eminem, 50 Cent, and Dilated Peoples.

But you also like the Mountain Goats and Belle and Sebastian.

How do you choose your taste in music? Dartboard?

Real fans? The same type of fans who go to his live shows which are staged with an impersonator?

Face it, Doom sucks.

Wow, why you picking a fight with someone who made some random comments on Doom? He is incredibly overrated. You're really just living up to the reputation his ignorant fans have by acting like this.

roivampire 2009-05-18 12:18:34 PM
Ok i'm pretty educated as far as indie rap goes. Atmosphere, Pete Miser, Esham, Aesop Rock and all that but I have no idea who MF Doom is. Can he be that overrated if an indie rap junkie has never even heard his name?

Pengfish 2009-05-18 12:33:25 PM
DOOM has his moments, I like him plenty, but I'd be a fool not to understand why others might not like him. His charms are also his flaws.

But Eminem, gah, can't stand his high pitched mushmouth and superfluous cursing. His face I also have a problem with.

Zombie Eater 2009-05-18 12:43:59 PM

Glitch, if he would have said "eh, i don't like Doom", i would have not replied.

But he assumed I was an MC Cris nerd fan boy, so I corrected him, told him I wasn't, and basically told him to stop assuming you know about me or why I like what I like.

And, I don't care if it is an impersonator. I like the Smiths for their music, and prefer seeing a cover band of them over Morrissey any day.

Again, Doom is not a spectacular MC, and maybe overrated by some people. He has a bandwagon for sure. But, some people like him because he is charming, his beats never suck, and he will always manage to make me laugh.

Fair enough. I certainly see your point of view. He's definitely not my cup of tea.

You have to admit, a lot of DOOM fans are definitely some annoying nerdcore fans as well. It's not that I dislike nerdcore, it's just that the fans seem to place it on some sort of pedestal. Every single nerdcore album I have ever heard has some of the worst production in hip hop, excluding Timbaland and Scott Storch. At least the backpack rap crew recruits producers like RJD2 and Blockhead. Of course, El-P does his own production for the most part, and he's really good.

Anyway, that's enough "stone throwing" by me today. Pun intended.

Meh, I gave the new album a listen and it's alright. Not as good as his old school albums (Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP) but still WAY better than Encore so it's definitely a step in the right direction.

ColdenHaufield: aesopROCK

TheJoe03: Aesop

roivampire: Aesop Rock

You know, everytime a thread on here starts moving towards underground hip hop, I keep hearing his name dropped and how amazing he apparently is. I've never seen any of his albums or even heard of him outside of the Internet but was curious about what the big fuss is with him so just recently, I searched for a couple of his songs on YouTube and gave them a listen...

JESUS CHRIST IS THIS GUY BAD!!! At first I thought I had just picked a bad song of his or something but apparently all of them sound just as horrible. He has no flow and all of his "rap" is a bunch of incoherent mumbling that you can barely understand what he's saying. He also seems to be writing songs with a copy of Webster's Dictionary or something. It's like he's trying to sound smart by throwing out as many SAT vocabulary words as he can think of. I fail to see how anyone can tolerate listening to this, much less enjoy it or consider it to be catchy at all. Maybe if you're a pseudo-intellectual.

For those farkers talking about how Eminem is talentless and Aesop Rock is a genius, I have no problem if you don't like Eminem as I realize that he's not everyone's cup of tea. But seriously, are you really claiming that you find songs like this and this to be better and more enjoyable than this or this???

Pengfish 2009-05-18 04:40:54 PM
Rappers are a matter of taste, there are hundreds of them and plenty about each and every single one to like or dislike. Aesop has his very own style, verbose, messy at times, and full of wacky words, but that's his, take it how you want it.

I think Aesop is wonderful most of the time, No Regrets is a favorite song of mine.

Hey, i've only heard the Danger Doom CD and thats what everyone I know who went on about him harped on, so thats what I was biatching about. I don't follow underground much anymore, I used to really like Living Legends but its been a while.

marius2 2009-05-19 08:48:36 AM
I like three tracks of his new album,

3 A.M
Deja Vu
Beautiful

The others are bad. The Dre/50 one is ok, though it took me a few listens before I even slightly liked it.

He tried to hard.

marius2 2009-05-19 08:49:15 AM
I obviously did not try hard enough.

The "Dangerdoom" album is okay, but the ATHF and Adult Swim sound clips make it seem pretty crackerjack if you know what I'm saying. At least the beats are all top notch.

"Operation: Doomsday" on the other hand, is quite good.

"I was backstage
couldn't believe my luck was in
I saw him approach
wearing a most approachable grin
When he said hello
I was surprised he spoke so politely
I said I'd liked his show
Well he just smiled
I guess it happens nightly
and so
I fell in love

We went to his room
he had a video camera
I was so nervous
I had to try hard not to stammer
He said
"I'm glad you liked the show
that crowd was dope out there tonight, alright
You wanna see some more?
Well be my guest
You can have a private performance"
I'd fallen in love

I didn't ask why
though he seemed like such a regular guy
he said we could be
secret lovers
just him and me
Then he joked
"Hey, man!
Your name isn't Stan, is it?
We should be together!"
And he was passionate
I guess I would rate
him a nine out of ten
by then
I'd fallen in love

When I asked
why have I heard so much
about him being charged
with homophobia and stuff
he just shrugged

Next morning we woke
he couldn't have been a nicer bloke
Over breakfast made jokes
about Dre and his homies and folks
Neither of us asked if or when
we would see each other again
but I thought that was cool
'cause I was already late for school
by then
I'd fallen in love"

his early success and talent was an outlet of him being a hungry, angst-filled nobody from the streets.

Now that he's a millionaire, father, and nothing to prove, its goes without saying that he won't have the same drive and ambition.

Look at Tiger Woods. Ever since he got married, he sucks at golf. I could beat him, easily probably.
